Free fruit is great. Gym access is great. Wellbeing rooms, standing desks and mindfulness apps can all add value.

But none of them can compensate for a manager who doesn’t know how to support their people.

Managers have a huge influence on the day-to-day employee experience — from workload, communication and psychological safety to whether someone feels able to speak up when they’re struggling.

That’s why workplace wellbeing can’t just be about the resources you provide.

It has to include the capability of the people leading your teams.

Our CPD-accredited Line Manager Training gives managers practical, evidence-based skills to:

* Recognise and respond to stress and mental health concerns
* Hold supportive wellbeing conversations
* Understand their responsibilities and boundaries
* Make appropriate reasonable adjustments
* Signpost employees to the right support
* Build healthier, more psychologically safe teams

Because sometimes the best wellbeing intervention isn’t another bowl of fruit.

It’s a better-equipped manager.

🐾 The wellbeing benefits of sharing your life with animals

I’m lucky enough to have 4 dogs and 4 cats, so there’s rarely a quiet moment in our house!

But alongside the chaos, muddy paws and endless feeding, I genuinely feel huge benefits from their company, energy and calm.

Dogs get you moving, get you outdoors and bring an infectious enthusiasm to even the most ordinary day.

Cats have a different energy. They can bring calm, comfort and those quiet moments of connection that encourage you to slow down.

And there is growing evidence that interacting with pets can support our wellbeing in a number of ways, including:

🐶 Encouraging more physical activity and time outdoors
🐱 Providing companionship and reducing feelings of loneliness
❤️ Helping us relax and manage everyday stress
🧠 Giving us routine, purpose and responsibility
😊 Creating moments of connection, play and enjoyment
🤝 Even helping us connect with other people in our communities

Animals don’t care about emails, targets, deadlines or what happened at work.

They’re interested in what’s happening right now.

Sometimes a walk with the dogs or sitting quietly with one of the cats is exactly the reset I need.

Our wellbeing isn’t always improved through complicated interventions.

Sometimes it has four paws, a wagging tail… or decides to sit on your laptop while you’re trying to work. 🐾

Do your pets have a positive impact on your wellbeing?

🩺 Do you know your numbers?

Know Your Numbers! Week takes place from 7–13 September 2026, encouraging people of all ages to check and understand their blood pressure.

Around one in three UK adults has high blood pressure—and many don’t know it because it often has no obvious symptoms. Left unmanaged, it can increase the risk of heart attack, stroke and other serious conditions.

Workplace health checks make it easier for employees to take that important first step. Our confidential onsite checks can include:

✅ Blood pressure and resting heart rate
✅ Cholesterol and blood glucose
✅ BMI and body composition
✅ Lung function and heart-health screening
✅ Personalised feedback and health guidance

This Know Your Numbers! Week, help your employees better understand their health and identify potential risks early.

Most people don’t need a complete wellbeing overhaul.

They need one small change, repeated consistently.

That’s the thinking behind our 8 x 6 Principle at We Are Wellbeing LTD

The idea is simple:

Break the year into 8 blocks of 6 weeks.

In each block, focus on just one realistic wellbeing habit.

That might be:

✅ Walking more
✅ Improving sleep
✅ Reducing caffeine
✅ Eating more fruit and vegetables
✅ Building better boundaries
✅ Making time for connection
✅ Practising mindfulness
✅ Moving more consistently

Six weeks is long enough to build momentum, but short enough to feel manageable.

By the end of the year, you haven’t tried to change everything at once.

You’ve made up to eight small, sustainable improvements to the way you live and work.

Wellbeing doesn’t have to be complicated.

It often starts with asking:

What is the one thing I could focus on for the next six weeks?

At We Are Wellbeing, we help organisations make wellbeing practical, personal and sustainable.

If your people need support turning wellbeing advice into everyday action, we’d love to help.

🧠 Wellbeing Words Series: Rumination

Ever found yourself replaying the same thought, conversation or worry over and over again?

That’s called rumination.

Rumination is when we become stuck in repetitive negative thinking — often focusing on problems, mistakes, worries or “what ifs.”

While reflection can help us learn, rumination usually keeps us trapped in stress, anxiety and low mood.

Common signs include:
• Overthinking past conversations
• Constantly worrying about the future
• Struggling to “switch off” mentally
• Replaying mistakes or regrets

Things that may help:
✅ Notice when it’s happening
✅ Shift attention through movement or activity
✅ Talk things through with someone you trust
✅ Practice mindfulness or grounding techniques
✅ Limit unhelpful scrolling and late-night thinking time

Your thoughts are important — but they are not always facts.

Awareness is often the first step towards better mental wellbeing 💚

There are 5 key components of fitness that everyone should be thinking about:

1. Cardiovascular Endurance
Your heart and lungs’ ability to deliver oxygen during sustained activity. This underpins energy, productivity, and long-term health.

2. Muscular Strength
How much force your muscles can produce. Essential for daily tasks, injury prevention, and maintaining independence as we age.

3. Muscular Endurance
Your ability to perform repeated movements over time. Think posture, resilience, and not fatiguing halfway through your day.

4. Flexibility
Range of motion around your joints. Often overlooked, but crucial for reducing injury risk and improving movement quality.

5. Body Composition
The balance of fat, muscle, bone, and water in the body. This gives a far better picture of health than weight alone.

💡 Here’s the key point:
You don’t need to be exceptional in all 5 — but neglecting one will hold you back.

In the workplace, we often see people focusing on one area (usually weight), while ignoring the others that truly drive performance, energy, and wellbeing.

At We Are Wellbeing, we build these 5 components into our health checks, coaching, and training — because better health = better performance.

👉 Which of the 5 do you focus on most right now?

What does a great manager actually look like?

Not on paper…
Not in a job description…
But in action, every single day.

A great manager isn’t just focused on results — they’re engineered for people.

They:
✔ Listen before they speak
✔ Build trust through consistency
✔ Create clarity, not confusion
✔ Develop people, not just performance
✔ Stay calm under pressure
✔ Lead with purpose

Because the truth is simple:

👉 You don’t build a great business without building great managers.

And yet… most managers are promoted without ever being properly trained to lead people.

That’s where the real opportunity lies.

At We Are Wellbeing, our Manager Training: Wellbeing At Work programme is designed to give managers the confidence, skills and tools to:

🔹 Lead meaningful conversations
🔹 Support mental health & wellbeing
🔹 Drive performance through people
🔹 Build stronger, more engaged teams

If you want managers who don’t just manage—but truly lead…
