The sculpture, in the heart of Harrogateβs famous Valley Gardens, was looking fantastic this evening. Even covered in snow, in the middle of a lockdown, the light of the arts still shines through.

The last eleven months have been a time of perseverance, uncertainty, reinvention, worry and patience.
At HIF community has always been at the heart of our charitable mission, and in this strange time weβve continued to work to deliver the opportunities, imagination, creativeness and the light of the arts, to hundreds of thousands of people in any way that we can.
As an arts charity who must raise 98% of our funds annually and have seen our income decimated by the pandemic and the lack of live events (which has meant no income from ticket sales in nearly a year) we have a battle ahead. But, with the support of our friends, partners and supporters we will live to create and deliver exciting and challenging programmes of work - to bring the light of the arts to our community.
In the meantime, if youβre looking for some cultural light in this lockdown, go to our website for a host of activities, podcasts and events from across the last 11 months.
Stay safe.

With a design envisioned by HIF, in 2019 we worked with two Yorkshire artists: James from Element 3 Design and Eddie from Cult-ore Art, to bring this sculpture to life as part of our Harrogate 1571 lighting installation: βcelebrating the waters that made usβ.
With thanks to Harrogate Welcomes The World and Harrogate Borough Council who commissioned the project, alongside Slingsby Harrogate Steel and Yorkshire Water whose support helped Harrogate International Festivals to bring this stunning project to life.
