💭 What if your perfectionism, people pleasing, or overthinking isn't a flaw?

Many of the behaviours we criticise in ourselves may actually be protective parts that developed for a reason.

Perhaps perfectionism helped you avoid criticism.
Perhaps people pleasing helped you feel accepted.
Perhaps staying constantly busy stopped you from feeling vulnerable.
Perhaps overthinking was your mind's way of trying to keep you safe.

💜These patterns are often rooted in a nervous system that has learned to protect us in the best way it knows how.

The good news is that when we begin to understand these protective parts with curiosity instead of judgement, something shifts. We can respond with compassion, make different choices, and create lasting change.

This is one of the topics we explore inside BodyWise Beginnings, my 4 week online programme starting on 8th July, and I'll also be introducing these ideas in my FREE webinar this Sunday.

A little behind the scenes today from BodyWise…

Today I spent in a favourite café with a coffee, my laptop, and the companion workbook for BodyWise Beginnings. Seeing it all come together has been such an exciting moment. 🤩

Every page has been created with care to help people better understand their nervous system, reconnect with their body, and approach themselves with greater curiosity and compassion.

One of the topics we explore is our protective parts. Those inner voices or behaviours that often show up when we feel stressed, overwhelmed, or under pressure. Rather than seeing them as something to fight against, we can begin to understand the important role they play.

That’s what BodyWise Beginnings Programme is all about. 😊
