Trying for a baby?

Most couples focus on the month ahead, but fertility preparation actually starts much earlier.

Both s***m and egg development begin months before conception, which means the choices you make today can influence your fertility and future pregnancy.

In this video, Dr Mugdha Kulkarni explains why the three months before trying to conceive may be more important than you think.

As we mark our first anniversary, we would like to take a moment to thank everyone who has supported, trusted, and collaborated with us over the past year.

This first year has been an incredible journey. We have had the privilege of supporting individuals and couples through important stages of their fertility journey, and every patient interaction has reinforced our commitment to providing compassionate, personalised, and evidence-based care.

We are deeply grateful to our patients for placing their trust in us and allowing us to be part of such an important chapter in their lives. Your confidence in our team inspires us every day.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to our valued partners The LivingCare Group, Thorpe Park Clinic, Leeds , Manchester Fertility, and Hull & East Riding Fertility for their collaboration, support, and shared commitment to delivering the highest standards of fertility care.

Over the past year, we have celebrated successes, learned valuable lessons, and continued to grow with one goal at the centre of everything we do: helping patients navigate their fertility journey with expertise, empathy, and hope.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to providing exceptional fertility care and supporting many more individuals and couples on their path to parenthood.

Thank you for being part of our journey.

Here's to many more years of hope, care, collaboration, and new beginnings. 💙

Many women are told that fertility declines after 35 years of age, but few are told why.

It’s not just about egg numbers that decline with age; egg quality changes too, influencing embryo development, implantation and miscarriage risk.

Age is an important part of the bigger picture, and every woman deserves clear, calm, evidence‑based information, not fear.

Watch this short video from Dr Harish Bhandari as he explains fertility with age and what really happens to egg numbers/quality over time.

Many people don’t realise how emotionally demanding fertility treatment, pregnancy, miscarriage, and early parenthood can be.

Maternal mental health is often spoken about only after birth, but emotional wellbeing matters throughout the entire fertility and pregnancy journey 🤍

For Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week, Angela Pericleous-Smith, Senior Specialist Fertility Counsellor at JIVA Fertility, shares insights on:
* why emotional wellbeing matters during fertility treatment and pregnancy
* signs that should not be ignored
* the emotional impact of miscarriage and uncertainty
* where patients can seek support in the UK

According to NHS and NICE-backed guidance, around 1 in 5 women experience mental health difficulties during pregnancy or within the first year after birth.*

No one should feel they have to navigate these emotions alone 🌿

“If I’m planning a pregnancy, do I need to stop my weight loss medications first?”

Current guidance from Professional Societies is clear. Weight loss medications such as Mounjaro, Wegovy or Ozempic are not recommended during pregnancy or while trying to conceive.

It is recommended that these medications be stopped at least eight weeks prior to planning a pregnancy in order to allow enough time for them to be washed out of your body, as the long-term safety data is limited.

If you were not aware of the guidance and you fall pregnant whilst on these medications, it is vital you stop them as soon as you realise you are pregnant and inform your doctor or midwife so that they can arrange appropriate care in your pregnancy.

Also, some reassurance that the healthy habits built during weight loss treatment, such as improved nutrition and regular exercise, can continue to support fertility once the medication is stopped.

At JIVA Fertility, we often see that small, well-timed decisions around health and treatment can make a meaningful difference in a fertility journey. If you are planning a pregnancy and are currently on weight loss medication, it is worth having a conversation early so you can move forward with clarity and confidence.

Many patients ask one common question:
Can I improve my egg reserve (the number of eggs in your ovaries)?

The answer may not be what you expect.

But here’s the part that often gets overlooked…

Your fertility is not just about how many eggs you have.

There is something else that plays an even bigger role for your fertility outcomes.

🩸 Irregular periods? You could still conceive… but it’s worth checking!

Having a period doesn’t always mean you’re ovulating. If your cycles are irregular, there could be an underlying reason that’s affecting fertility – and in many cases, it’s correctable.

Early testing can give clarity and help you take the next step on your fertility journey. 🌸
