Spending time outdoors provides essential benefits for both physical and mental well-being. Moving around in fresh air builds physical fitness, boosts energy levels, and strengthens cardiovascular health. Natural sunlight is the primary trigger for the body to produce vitamin D, an essential nutrient for bone strength and immune function. Additionally, exposure to natural light stimulates the release of serotonin in the brain, a hormone that elevates mood, reduces stress, and sharpens focus, making time outside a powerful reset for body and mind.

What you focus on shapes your reality, as your attention acts as a filter for how you experience the world. When you consciously direct your focus toward growth, gratitude, and positive goals, your mind naturally seeks out opportunities and actions that align with those thoughts. Conversely, dwelling on limitations or distractions can make those exact challenges feel overwhelming and central to your daily experience. Ultimately, the quality of your focus dictates what you nurture and expand, making your attention one of the most powerful tools for shaping your life's outcomes.

Squats are one of the most effective functional exercises for older adults, directly targeting the major muscle groups used in everyday movements like standing up from a chair, lifting objects, or climbing stairs. By strengthening the quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, and core, squats improve overall lower-body stability and joint health, which significantly reduces the risk of falls and injuries. Additionally, the load-bearing nature of squats stimulates bone remodeling, helping to maintain bone density and protect against osteoporosis to support long-term mobility and independence.

Start slowly, do as many as you can, and work up every day!! Steady yourself with a chair, tabletop or countertop if necessary. It's one of the main, fundamental exercises you can do to stay strong and maintain independence!

haha Well, some days are better than others, though positivity has great benefits! If you find you're crabby more than you want to be, it's worth it to sit down with yourself and have a good look at your blessings. They are there, I assure you!

Eating after 6pm often conflicts with your body’s circadian rhythms. Metabolism handles glucose and fat more efficiently earlier in the day, when insulin sensitivity is higher. Later on, melatonin rises and metabolic processes slow, so the same meal can cause bigger blood-sugar spikes and favor fat storage over burning.

This can harm metabolic health over time. Studies of identical dinners at 6pm versus 10pm show higher glucose levels, slower fat breakdown, and hormone shifts that increase next-day hunger. Regular late eating is linked to higher BMI and greater risk of weight gain and insulin resistance, even with the same calories.

Finishing earlier also aids sleep and recovery by reducing reflux risk and giving the body more uninterrupted overnight repair time.

I know a lot of people think this is utter crap. “Change your thoughts and your life changes — right! Pffftthh.” Well, I agree, I used to think that too, but when I was in a bad place, I figured what was there to lose?

Well… I tried it. And it does work! We are made up of billions of atoms with electrons zipping around them. Electrons are energy. And your energy reacts with every other thing in the Universe. Raise your energy level and vibration to attract that same level of energy into your life. This is why I advocate daily gratitude practice. Even if you can only be grateful for waking up and breathing, concentrating on the good will bring in more good.

Try it. What do you have to lose??
