✨ Yoga for mum and baby ✨
I like to teach movements which involve the babies so it’s fun and interactive for them 🧡
They’re a great way to stretch out tired muscles, build strength back into your body and bond with your little one!
1 ✦︎ Yoga for your baby:
This is the ‘row row’ move we do in baby yoga/massage, it’s a fab way to ease trapped wind and fun for your baby if you sing along (they will always love your singing voice even if you don’t!)
2 ✦︎ ‘Swoopy cat’:
This is what I call this one - it’s a lovelyy release for the spine.
Inhale into a gentle cow position - arch of the spine (extra gentle if you’ve had a caesarean birth). Exhale into a cat pose - rounded spine - and swoop your hips back towards your heels. Come forwards onto forearms, kisses up your baby’s tummy, back into all fours. Repeat!
3 ✦︎ Dip & kiss:
*not before your 8 week postnatal check.
From all fours, extend one leg behind you and draw your belly button up towards your spine. Then lead with your nose, keep your elbows in and shift your torso forwards (shoulders go past wrists) so you can kiss your baby / kiss the air above them!
If you notice doming in your tummy, skip this one or just bend elbows from all fours.
4 ✦︎ Hip and shoulder release:
Pop your baby onto your front thigh and you can rock back and forth / circle the knee around which will release your hip. Have a play with circling your opposite arm to open up the shoulder and chest.
5 ✦︎ Seated stretch & twist:
From butterly, extend your one leg and keep the other bent - your little one sits on this thigh to help open up that hip. Slide your hand down the extended leg for a soft side stretch.
Then slide back up, swap hands over (so other hand now supports baby) and come into a twist - see video - with fingertips behind you. Twists like this are so healthy for the spine!
Finish with any form of lying down next to your baby and taking a few long breaths for yourself 🌿
