As a highly intelligent approach, I incorporate elements of applied functional neurology to improve cognition, movement, mobility, balance, stability and more. Last day in May and I’ve been in utter awe and wonderment everywhere I looked and with everything I’ve felt.
The sunset, the contrasting bold colours of the landscapes, the way the sun has cast its dappled shadows, the endless chattering birdsong, the warmth of the sunshine of my skin, the almost indescribable but totally honest taste of the in-season asparagus, strawberries and new potatoes, the baby pheasants and pairs of partridges dotting the verge sides, the blooms of the flowers bursting to life and my oh my the ROSES. The intricacy of the folding of their petals, the vibrancy of their colouring, the complexity of their design and the sizes!
My oh my… May you have been and are oh so beautiful.
Thank you nature for you have well and truly shone and sung abundantly all month long.
Oh how I love you so richly.
I have such overwhelming gratitude.

It’s the biggest and best privilege which I never cease to be truly humbled by for you to put your trust in me to help you move, feel and live a little better.
For me to be able to support you as you venture through this wild and crazy life. Creating as much joy as you go.

I’m so grateful for you for being here and showing up in whatever way you do.

And my promise in return for being here is that I will always do my best to bring you the best education I can, and continue to keep learning and staying up to date with latest science.

My trajectory has changed.

It can be months in the making and then in a split second, life as you might know it changes for ever.

But not always for the worse.
(Ive had it both ways so can speak from experience.)

From a split second in time, the path you then walk forward on can become different.

Isn’t it crazy how transitional and transient our lives really are.
An old one can be gone in an instant as you knew it, and a new normal slowly or sometimes abruptly makes its entrance, welcoming itself and taking up its rightful seat at the table…
Press pause in these moments.
Like the soft undulating flow of the setting of the sun through to the rising of the moon.
Take a moment to really pause and notice what’s happening and acknowledge the scale of the decision, change, opportunity whatever it is.

Neither is better or worse.
They’re just different.
And I believe adapting a mindset that reflects that is invaluable when it comes to not letting doubt creep in that you made the wrong decision or indeed not mourning your own life by comparing the old to the new.
So leaning in to trusting that you’re exactly where you’re meant to be is a powerful position to take.

Don’t bet the farm.
Equally Don’t try and sabotage it negatively or second guessing.
Just let the present roll in.
Taking each day as it comes and allowing yourself to be swept up by the rapids, letting them gently carry you along the waves.

I’ll share more soon.
But for now - all I can say is WOW.
Part terrified. Part excited. Part completely blinded.

What’s better than just doing a movement?

Feeling a movement.

How do we make that happen?

Through feedback.

This most commonly can come in the form of:
Tactile Cues using props or hands-on physical feedback to understand where we are in space bringing awareness to the body.

Visual Cues in the form of demonstrations, or mirrors to improve immediate understanding of the movement and the correct form.

Verbal cues (both internal and external) to help improve activation - internal can help improve mind-muscle connection and external can help improve motor learning (effectiveness and efficiency i.e. how easily you can perform a movement without thinking about it) and performance.

All are invaluable to help you gain the most from your movement training.
It’s very easy to just ‘do’ the movements on auto pilot and not actually be improving neural mapping therefore not building effective and efficient neuromuscular control in the ways that are beneficial when it comes to movement.

How much attention do you pay to cueing and teacher feedback when it comes to who you are learning from? Did you realise it was so important to your progress?
