AD | Glowcose was gifted by Lewcose for my honest review. I’m also now Lewcose affiliate and may earn commission if you purchase through my link or discount code, at no extra cost to you.

I was about to pop outside when the light changed to amber.

My phone wasn’t already in my hand and an alert hadn’t sounded yet. The colour made me stop, open CareLink and give Rebekah a heads-up.

That was the moment Glowcose proved useful for us.

It doesn’t show a glucose number or trend arrow, and it isn’t meant to replace Rebekah’s pump, CGM or phone alerts. It simply turns her CGM data into colours that I can see from across the room—and that has reduced how often I open CareLink just to check.

Setup only took a few minutes, although it wasn’t completely snag-free. The instructions disappeared midway through, the CAPTCHAs took several attempts and using the same CareLink login initially caused problems with xDrip. Creating a separate Care Partner account fixed that, and both have stayed connected since.

After testing it over several days and nights, moving it between rooms and deliberately interrupting the data, my verdict at home is positive. It reconnects automatically, turns white when there’s no current data, has five brightness levels and can flash every 30 seconds during a low until glucose returns to range.

Lewcose asked for a “warts and all” review—not a positive one. The full review is now available in the Mum of a Warrior Recommends section of my website.

The classroom trial is still to come, subject to school permission.

Would being able to see CGM ranges across the room make a difference in your home or school?

Our Glowcose light successfully put into a classroom today. Teacher and classroom assistant now able to discretely keep an eye out without making a big deal about glucose levels, in front of the other pupils. Ideal in making the T1 child feel normal in the classroom.

Light glowing yellow showing 5.1 range 🥰

Diabetes Stories: Meet Paul
From Antrim

Paul’s Story:

"Your son needs to get to the Children's Hospital....RIGHT NOW!" That was the sentence from the on-call Doctor that changed my life forever. He had been drinking a lot of water...a LOT! This was why we called the Doctor.

7 days later and we were back home with needles, insulin, PDMs, test strips and our heads spinning! My wife and I were used to counting calories, carbs, protein etc due to weightlifting and gym use, I never thought for a moment we'd need to use those to keep our son safe and alive.

If we can take any positive thing from our son becoming Type 1 diabetic, it's that he was diagnosed very young. It's all he really knows and he doesn't remember life before his diagnosis. I've seen and heard stories of older children and young adults getting diagnosed and just refusing to accept their new life. It makes it easier when it's all Lewis has ever known and for that, I'm thankful in some small way.

Due to my sons Type 1 diagnosis, I also started up a diabetes tech business called Lewcose. If it wasn't for our son’s Type 1, I'd never have been able to help other parents manage their child's diabetes through our CGM light product.

For anyone reading this and needing some positivity just remember this...Diabetes doesn't control us, WE control diabetes!

Android 17 update info

As of the time of this post, Dexcom haven't verified if new Android 17 will work. They previoulsy have said NOT to update until they are clear that it will work. Recommendation is to wait until verification from Dexcom 👍 Better safe than sorry and it doesn't take too long for the verification to come through from Dexcom, they are aware there's a new Android available.

Previous recommendation info here - https://breakthrought1d.org.uk/news/warning-issued-for-dexcom-g6-users-as-android-16-update-causes-compatibility-issues/?utm_source=chatgpt.com

With the heat affecting everyone, some tips below

- Keep meters and test strips away from the sun as the sun can affect equipment
- Avoid getting any sunscreen on your insertion site. Clean the area thoroughly before applying the new sensor so it sticks properly
- Store insulin properly. If you take insulin to treat your diabetes, keep a close eye on how you store it so it still works properly.
In hot weather, insulin is best kept in the fridge or cool bag.
- Stay hydrated
- In very hot weather keep out of the heat if you can. If you have to go outside, stay in the shade especially between 11am and 3pm when sun is the strongest.

💙 Reviews like this mean everything to us.

One of our customers recently shared how Glowcose has helped their daughter feel more relaxed around diabetes management, especially at night.

“It's put her mind at ease and she's sleeping better with it there next to her. She's now not glued to her phone anxiously watching her numbers.”

That’s exactly why Lewcose exists.

Glowcose gives simple colour awareness of glucose levels at a glance, helping reduce constant phone checking and bringing reassurance to families living with Type 1 diabetes.

Thank you so much, Ciara, for your kind words and support.
