Very excited to be joining Liam of for an upcoming Creative Morning.

One of the things I love about creativity and somatics is that neither asks us to have all the answers.

Both invite curiosity.
Both encourage us to notice what's happening in the present moment.
Both create opportunities to step away from constant analysis and experience something directly.

In a world that often encourages us to think our way through everything, spaces that invite us to create, connect and be present feel increasingly important.

Looking forward to this one.

We often hear the phrase "put your money where your mouth is."
Lately, I've been thinking more about putting my morals there too.

As a therapist and small business owner, I operate within a system where money matters. Rooms need booking. Training costs money. Insurance needs paying.
But I don't believe money is the only thing of value.

One of the ways I'm trying to live my values more intentionally is by being open to exchange and trade where it feels appropriate.

Not because the work isn't valuable.

But because community, skills, care and mutual support are valuable too.
That might look like exchanging sessions for:

• legal advice
• neurodiversity coaching
• nutrition support
• fitness services
• hair, nails or massage
• electrical, mechanical or building work
• van parking or short home stays

The exchange doesn't always have to be financial to be meaningful.

For me, this is part of building a business that reflects the world I want to live in.
A world where relationships matter.
Where resources are shared.
Where support moves in more than one direction.

Money will always have a place.
But I'd like my values to have one too.

There’s an important conversation to be had about safety, ethics and autonomy in healing spaces.

Not because somatic work, spirituality, coaching or alternative therapies are inherently harmful, but because any approach can become problematic when people are encouraged to disconnect from their own judgement.

For me, good therapeutic work isn't about providing answers or positioning myself as the expert on someone else's life.

It's about creating a space where people can become more connected to themselves.

More aware of their patterns.
More able to make choices.
More trusting of their own experience.

I understand why people seek certainty, especially when they're struggling.

But healing isn't about handing your power over to someone else.

It's about developing a deeper relationship with yourself.

That's why I believe good support should encourage:
• curiosity over certainty
• autonomy over dependency
• collaboration over hierarchy
• self-awareness over self-blame

The most powerful healing spaces don't ask you to hand over your power.

They support you in reconnecting with it.

Not every “healing” space is healing.

And not every practitioner who speaks confidently is working ethically.

One thing I value deeply in somatic work is that it should never be about convincing someone I have the answers for them.
I don’t position myself as the expert on another person’s life or body.

My role is to support exploration safely,
offer tools, bring training and experience,
and create space for people to reconnect with themselves.

That’s very different from:
“I know what’s wrong with you.”
“I can fix you.”
“Only I understand this.”

When people are struggling, certainty can feel comforting. That’s what can make wellness spaces vulnerable to manipulation, dependency and sometimes even cult-like dynamics.

Critical thinking and embodiment should exist together.

A lot of people come to somatic work, spirituality or alternative therapies because they are genuinely struggling.

They’re looking for relief, understanding, belonging, or answers after feeling failed elsewhere.

That can make people incredibly open, and unfortunately, not every space is ethical or safe.

There’s a difference between support and dependency. Between guidance and someone positioning themselves as having all the answers to your life.

For me, good therapeutic work should increase autonomy, not reduce it.

It should support people in reconnecting with their own body, judgement and capacity, not handing their power over to someone else.

I also think we need to be able to talk honestly about:

• unsafe practice
• guru culture
• manipulation disguised as healing
• exclusivity and elitism in wellness spaces
• extremely high-cost offerings being sold as “transformation”

People deserve spaces that are trauma-informed, ethical and grounded, not spaces that encourage dependency or promise certainty.

Please feel free to share any experience of this you've had - in the comments below.

Peace is easier to access when life feels calm.

The real practice is not learning how to feel peaceful in chaos all the time.
It’s learning how to stay connected to yourself within it.

To notice when you’ve been pulled completely into stress, fear, urgency or overwhelm… and gently return.

Return to your breath, your body, your boundaries, the present moment.

Not to erase what’s happening around you, but so you don’t lose yourself inside it.

Really looking forward to my upcoming collaborative event with Liam exploring somatics, embodiment and creativity in a more shared, community-based space.

A lot of the work I do happens in 1:1 sessions, but there’s something different that becomes possible when people come together collectively.

People often realise:

they’re not the only one feeling overwhelmed,
disconnected,
stuck in survival mode,
or trying to navigate life entirely from the neck up.

Creating spaces where people can slow down, reconnect with their bodies and experience regulation relationally can be incredibly powerful.

A reminder to unclench your shoulders, jaw, hands, forehead… and maybe your entire existence while you’re at it 😌

As we come to the end of mental health awareness week I wanted to talk about the effects of Mental Health on the body.

Mental health is not separate from the body.

The nervous system responds to the environments, pressures and experiences we move through every day, and many people are carrying far more than they realise.
But while the body carries stress, it also carries intelligence.

Somatic work isn’t about forcing positivity or pretending things are fine. It’s about supporting the body to stay connected, grounded and resourced enough to keep moving through difficult realities without completely losing ourselves inside them.

For some people, that shift changes everything.

Popped in to see the beautiful new base in Hoylake. Jess has created a beautiful space for community gatherings, wellbeing and creativity.

The space hosts regular sessions for children, teens and adults as well as a space to meet and gather.
