โMy lip fillerโs definitely all gone. I need more!โ she looks at me, I look at herโฆ for a brief moment we pause, she smiles, she knows what Iโm going to say, but before I can speakโฆ
โdonโt say no! ๐ฅบโ
I smile back
I donโt think she needs it, but I hate to disappoint my patientsโฆ
The ultrasound would like a word. ๐
Comment if youโve been in this exact position with your patient ๐
Looking less full isnโt the same as having no filler left. And being able to show a patient whatโs still there can make the conversation about another โlittle top-upโ rather different.
Ultrasound gets a lot of attention for its role when something goes wrong. Quite rightly. But thereโs plenty of value in using it before weโre having an emergency conversation.
For practitioners, it can help us assess previous filler, follow changes over time and make more informed decisions about what to do nextโincluding when to leave things alone.
For patients, thereโs reassurance in having something explained and, where possible, shown to you. Particularly when youโve been worried about a lump, unsure what was injected previously, or convinced your filler has packed its bags.
It isnโt a crystal ball, and it takes training to interpret whatโs on the screen. But it can give us useful information that looking and feeling alone may not.
Sometimes that information helps guide treatment. Sometimes it helps explain why you donโt need more.
Both are useful outcomes.
