STEP 5 - Moisturiser
🌸How important is a moisturiser?
Well put it this way, if you were only going to use two products on your skin then they should be cleaner and moisturiser... they are the basic steps that everyone should be using twice a day!
🌸What is the purpose of a Moisturiser?
Well as the name suggests, it is to add moisture to your skin. Depending on what one you use you can get added benefits and different amount of moisturise dependant on your skins needs.
A moisturiser also works as a protective layer for your skin, helping to reduce the effects of the environment from altering the skin. For example central heating, cold wind, the heater in the car, the sunshine...they all dry out and cause damage to your skin but having your cream on acts to protect your skin from these things affecting it as much.
🌸But I have oily skin so I don’t like to wear a face cream?
You still need to wear a moisturiser.... If you don’t wear a moisturiser then your skin dries out and can become dehydrated BUT your skin is quite clever in that it will then produce more oil (more than you already had) to compensate causing you to feel like your skin is really oily on the surface as the day goes on but it’s actually becoming dehydrated underneath and it all gets a bit complicated for your skin 🙊
If that makes any sense, it’s actually really hard to explain in writing 😁
So actually in essence using a moisturiser on your skin can help it to become less oily (as long as your not using a really rich one) over time as it will help to balance and stop it from fighting to produce excess oil.
So in essence your moisturiser is to moisturise, hydrate, balance and protect your skin with different additional benefits depending on which one you choose... look out for my post tomorrow about the different moisturiser options that I recommend 😘
