Im a mum, IBCLC, Endorsed Midwife and RN-I have always had a passion for helping others & love the satisfaction of helping family's on their feeding/breastfeeding journeys. Originally from the UK I have been on the Gold Coast since 2004. I started out always having an involvement with children from a young age which has now progressed into my amazing career. I have a beautiful little boy who is my

world 🌎 πŸ’™
I used to help out at the hospital child care centre when I was younger and I have also done lots of nannying & babysitting for numerous professional families on the Gold Coast, privately and for an agency, as well as back in England. I have volunteered my time with the kids at Radio Lollipop & Kidney Health Australia, to now being a highly trained registered nurse, midwife & Lactation Consultant.
My experience has been across all areas of Antenatal Care, Labour and delivery, Special Care Nursery and Postnatal support. I continue to work in one of the Gold Coast's busiest Private Hospitals and also work alongside some of the busiest obstetricians. I am very passionate about helping families with their newborns/babies/toddlers and love the satisfaction & gratitude families feel when things they struggled with start to go the way they want, which in my eyes is a great achievement and extremely rewarding. Its the little things that count! I am a keen traveller and love exploring this amazing world we live in. There are some beautiful countries to visit and I am slowly ticking them off my bucket list! I love experiencing all the different cultures and ways of life that are so different to our own. From my own personal breastfeeding journey I know the trials and tribulations which can make the journey even more challenging so am very compassionate and understanding. I look forward to helping lots more families and families to be on their new parenting adventure. Please don't hesitate to call or email me with any questions or concerns :-)

Someone asked me the other day if their ni***es will toughen up 😳😬
This makes me cringe with pain everytime I hear it. NO you do not need to toughen up your ni***es, we need to correct the problem as to why you are feeling pain whilst feeding.

Breastfeeding and pumping should NOT hurt if done correctly 🫢

Please seek help from an international board certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) if you experiencing any pain/discomfort whilst feeding πŸ™ πŸ’™β€οΈ
I want this to be an enjoyable and precious experience for you and your little one, not one that comes with resentment and fear everytime feed time comes around πŸ«ΆπŸ’• lets chat..... πŸ˜€

Did you know its quite normal for your breast's to not have that full sensation all the time?

I hear alot from mumma's that they think they have low supply or that their milk has dropped off because they don't feel this fullness anymore.

This IS not the case (in majority of cases)! It most likely means that your body has regulated your milk production to what the baby needs/wants .

Our bodies are clever like this and adapt as time passes and bub gets bigger 🫢

You may still get that fullness when/if you leave your breasts for a long period of time without a BF or expressing (5-6hrs) - completely normal.

If they are settled between feeds, have adequate weight gain and good output (over 6 wet heavy nappies) then you are smashing it πŸ’ͺ

Nap-Trapped" A different perspective......

This can feel overwhelming for some women especially if they thrive on keeping busy. I know from my own personal experience that this was hard on my mental health and anxiety as I would feel guilty for sitting still when I had 100 and 1 things to do, but I was stuck here keeping still.

I would have to try and remind myself that I should relax and enjoy these beautiful moments with my bubba (which dont get me wrong I totally did) but it was a fine line so my thoughts wouldnt take over and bring on the mum guilt and anxiety. I would have to go for a walk with the dog or the gym later that day to feel like I had been a bit more productive and help clear the head space to be a better mumma! I would feel so much worse if I hadn't made it out that day and reading an article on made it so much more real and reassuring that I wasn't alone.

So if you do get cat napped and are struggling, there is support out there and is one of those. They have lots of resources on their website but also have a helpline open 9-7.30pm M-F & 9-4pm on a Saturday.

Shared from The BBC has reported on a self-described sleep 'expert' who admitted to making up information and then teaching it to exhausted parents.

We wish we could say this was surprising.

Sadly, we've heard from Australian families that this isn't just a UK problem. Unqualified voices with large social media followings are sharing advice that directly contradicts the evidence. Advice that puts babies at risk.

This is why evidence-based guidance matters so much, and why we'll never stop talking about it.

Here are our six safe sleep recommendations. Developed from decades of research, not social media trends:

1. Always place the baby on their back to sleep
2. Keep the baby's head and face uncovered
3. Keep baby smoke-free, before and after birth
4. Provide a safe sleeping environment, night and day
5. Sleep baby in their own safe sleep space in the same room as their parent or caregiver for at least the first 6 months
6. Breastfeed the baby, if possible

These six steps are shown to reduce the risk of sudden infant death.

πŸ’“πŸ’“ Happy International Day of The Midwife πŸ’“πŸ’“ May 5th

Midwife means "being with woman" and what a privilege it is to be involved in such a precious and beautiful part of a womans/families life welcoming new life into this world πŸ’“πŸ’™πŸ’›πŸ’œβ€οΈ

From the transition into parenthood and the rollercoaster postpartum journey, it is all an incredible experience and one I'm blessed to be able to support and help women through at a time when they are so vulnerable. To help support, encourage and guide women to find their inner strength to overcome any hurdle, dig deep for a stregntg they didnt know they had and reap the rewards is truely amazing πŸ«ΆπŸ™Œ

To the lovely women and families who I have met and trusted me to be apart of their special journeys I thank you from the bottom of my heart 🫢 and to the families that follow along thank you ❀️ and to the families I haven't met I looked forward to supporting you 🫢

To my amazing work colleagues and friends 🧑 you are all amazing and passionate women despite the challenges we face on a daily basis 🫢

Silver cups are thought to be potentially aid ni**le healing because silver is naturally antibacterial and antifungal.

So if you are considering using silver ni**le cups, what do you need to know to make an informed decision?

🀱 there is mixed anecdotal opinion and little evidence around using silver ni**le cups for sore ni***es
🀱 silver ni**le cups may trigger allergic reactions
🀱 some mothers report using silver ni**le cups kept their ni**le and skin below constantly moist or soggy which prevented healing
🀱 when worn in a bra, silver ni**le cups may cause blocked ducts if held tightly against the breast due to pressure being placed on the surrounding breast tissue.
🀱 more research is needed to determine if silver cups are effective for healing sore ni***es.

If you experience sore and / or damaged ni***es, it is important to get skilled breastfeeding support, quickly.

Ask your health professional for a breastfeeding assessment.

The Breastfeeding Network has a factsheet about sore, cracked and damaged ni***es
