You Me & Babiee Bulk billing postnatal home visits in the comfort of your own home 🏑 πŸ’• I'm Donna a Registered Nurse, Midwife and Lactation Consultant. It is truly amazing!

Im a mum, IBCLC, Endorsed Midwife and RN-I have always had a passion for helping others & love the satisfaction of helping family's on their feeding/breastfeeding journeys. Originally from the UK I have been on the Gold Coast since 2004. I started out always having an involvement with children from a young age which has now progressed into my amazing career. I have a beautiful little boy who is my

world 🌎 πŸ’™
I used to help out at the hospital child care centre when I was younger and I have also done lots of nannying & babysitting for numerous professional families on the Gold Coast, privately and for an agency, as well as back in England. I have volunteered my time with the kids at Radio Lollipop & Kidney Health Australia, to now being a highly trained registered nurse, midwife & Lactation Consultant.
My experience has been across all areas of Antenatal Care, Labour and delivery, Special Care Nursery and Postnatal support. I continue to work in one of the Gold Coast's busiest Private Hospitals and also work alongside some of the busiest obstetricians. I am very passionate about helping families with their newborns/babies/toddlers and love the satisfaction & gratitude families feel when things they struggled with start to go the way they want, which in my eyes is a great achievement and extremely rewarding. Its the little things that count! I am a keen traveller and love exploring this amazing world we live in. There are some beautiful countries to visit and I am slowly ticking them off my bucket list! I love experiencing all the different cultures and ways of life that are so different to our own. From my own personal breastfeeding journey I know the trials and tribulations which can make the journey even more challenging so am very compassionate and understanding. I look forward to helping lots more families and families to be on their new parenting adventure. Please don't hesitate to call or email me with any questions or concerns :-)

xoxo Donna xoxo

β˜‚οΈ Dressing your baby in winter to ensure they are kept warm is important, as they don't regulate their body temperatures as well as us adults.
β˜‚οΈ The rule of thumb is to have an extra layer on them compared to what you are wearing.
β˜‚οΈ Removal extra accessories unneeded layers when in a car or inside to avoid any overheating.
β˜‚οΈ Place your hand on their chest to check their warmth, not their face (as that is exposed to the elements).

Breastfeeding support should start before bub arrives πŸ’“πŸ«ΆπŸ’™

Its so true that we as IBCLC's will get messages once their is already a problem or that the woman has damaged/tender nipple's occurring.

Early contact or appointments allows us to give the correct education on attachment, positions, supply and demand, pump use and fl**ge fitting along with so much more.

Breastfeeding classes are a great start to achieving your breastfeeding goals and being prepared with as much info as possible πŸ«ΆπŸ€±πŸΌπŸ’•

Koala Hold 🐨

✨️ Koala Hold or Straddle Hold is an upright breastfeeding position where the baby straddles your thigh and they are facing your breast, tummy to tummy in a seated position allowing for lots of eye contact.

✨️ It can be helpful for newborns especially ones who are small, have reflux, low tone or tongue ties, as gravity helps with attachment, digestion & swallowing.

✨️ For women who have a fast let down this is also a helpful hold, as the upright position helps bub handle the flow and make it more manageable. The woman can still recline more with the position as well if needed.

✨️The woman sits in a comfortable chair with good support for her back. Bubba sits straddling moms thigh and is supported against her body, facing the breast. The woman uses one hand to shape the breast and the other supports bubs neck/shoulders (especially whilst they are young and don't have any head/neck control). Once Bub is in position they are brought in close allowing them to get a deep latch, chin pressed into the breast and nose clear. The hand shaping the breast can stay if needed for support, otherwise can slowly let go and allow bub to rest on their arm.

Have you ever gone to give your little one paracetamol or ibuprofen, only to find their age and weight don't quite line up on the dosage guidelines? πŸ€”

You're not alone and it can be confusing.

Here's the main thing to know: Always go by weight, not age.

The correct dosage is determined by how many milligrams (mg) per kg your child weighs. The age range on the bottle is really just a guide to help you find the right ballpark - weight is what actually matters.

This is more important than it might seem. Medicines given incorrectly by parents and carers are one of the most common causes of accidental poisoning in Australian children under 12 months.

If you're ever unsure πŸ‘‡

☎️ NSW Poisons Information Centre - 13 11 26 - available 24/7. Save this number in your phone now in case you ever suspect poisoning or an overdose.

✨️ Breastfed babies can feed up to 12-14 times a day and can be Normal!
✨️ You can't overfeed a breastfed baby.
✨️ The first 6 weeks is crucial in building and maintaining a milk supply. (Don't leave the breast's full for long periods of time, multiple times a day).
✨️ Cluster feeding will pass (trust me, I know its hard when in the thick of it!)
✨️ Growth spurts make newborns/babies feed more, also normal.
