For most of human history, our bodies were in constant contact with the earth.... barefoot, grounded, and in rhythm with nature. Today, we’re surrounded by rubber soles, concrete, and screens… and that quiet disconnection is showing up in ways we can feel.

Grounding is one of the simplest ways we can reconnect with nature, and with ourselves.

So much of modern life keeps us disconnected from the Earth. Shoes, buildings, screens, stress, artificial light.

All of it can take us further away from the natural rhythms our bodies were designed to live with.

When we connect directly with the Earth, through bare feet on the ground or grounding products, the body can absorb free electrons from the Earth.

These electrons may help neutralise free radicals, which are linked to oxidative stress and inflammation in the body.

We live in a time where the answer is often to do more.

And while those things can have their place, they can also pull us further away from something much simpler.

The body isn’t constantly asking for more input.

We’ve become very good at insulating ourselves.

From the cold. From discomfort. From the ground beneath us.

But in doing so, we may have also removed something the body has always relied on.

Direct contact with the Earth.

It sounds simple, almost too simple. But the body doesn’t need complexity to function well. It needs the right conditions.

The Earth carries a natural charge. And when we’re in contact with it, electrons can flow into the body and help neutralise free radicals, one of the contributors to inflammation.

Modern life has its place. Shoes included.

But maybe it’s not about removing them.
Just remembering to reconnect.

Start small.

It’s easy to forget how powerful it is to simply be in a room with people who care.

In March, we spent time at a Fresko event in London, bringing together a mix of founders, speakers, and innovators across food, health, and wellbeing.

With voices like and so many others, it felt like a space where something is quietly shifting. More curiosity. More openness. More willingness to look beyond the surface.

And that’s what led me here too.

Grounding wasn’t something I grew up knowing about. It was something I came across at a time when I was looking for a different way to support my body. Something simpler. More natural.

And the more I experienced it, the more it made sense. Not as a trend, but as something we’ve always been connected to.

Now it’s something I feel deeply passionate about sharing.

Because when we reconnect with the Earth, even in small ways, we’re supporting the body’s natural ability to regulate, to calm, and to come back into balance.

And while being barefoot outside will always be the most natural way, I’ve also seen how powerful it can be to bring that connection indoors too.

Grounding isn’t about the product itself. It’s about restoring a pathway.
