Colostomy vs Ileostomy

I’ve been quiet on here for a couple of months as I’ve been recovering from an operation. Frodo (my colostomy) has gone and I now have a new friend Bilbo (an Ileostomy). This is part a of two stage step to full reversal.

But wow what a difference between the two! All my previous posts were from a changing bag perspective but with an ileostomy it’s much more of emptying a bag on a regular basis.

I’m glad I’ve now experienced both so that I can review toilets for both.

Happy Ostomy Awareness Day to my fellow Ostomates!

I will get posting reviews again shortly.

to see one of my favourite bands of all time who were amazing as always!

Used the accessible toilet next to section 249. Loved the sign of the front, such a small thing but can make a big difference to attitudes.

Pretty good facilities, very clean which is always a plus in a football stadium! (😉 )

Not much available space near sink and due to its location automatic soap did dispense all over some of my supplies! 🤣 But there was a drop down changing mat for shelf space.

As always one of my irritants is no mirror over the sink.

check out and their stoma aware campaign for any improvements they recommend.

Apologies for the first photo, but this was the view I had when using the toilets when I went to see the phenomenal , to say I was disgusted was an understatement. Especially as I have previously highlighted the issue to the venue.

please review the toilets by entrance H, the accessible toilets on the male side still do not have any bin whatsoever so users have to leave their waste like this for future guests to find! It is discrimination not to provide the same facilities to all your disabled patrons. I will be taking this further.

please review your obvious conscious decision to treat some of your customers unfairly. I am truly disappointed after highlighting this issue back in March.

Check and their stoma aware campaign to see what makes good facilities for you customers with stomas.

You must do better. Stomas are not unique to females therefore your male customers need to be accommodated!

Been meaning to do this one for while! My gym, the facilities are generally pretty good, although not much shelf space. But plus points for mirror above the sink and it’s clean and tidy!

It’s a shame the accessible shower has been out of action for a couple of weeks though!

A trip to London to meet my long suffering school friends meant a coffee in .nero in Euston Station.

Apart from it being scorching in there (I feel for the staff!) the toilets were ok, changing table could be used for a shelf. Mirror opposite the sink is always a frustration when changing my bag. Only other issue is requiring a code to get in the facility, which I was glad it wasn’t an emergency change!
nero check out and their fantastic campaign about stoma friendly toilets. Small changes make a big difference.

saw this on my way to meet friends at Euston Station today and I just wanted to say thank you for all the honest and positive publicity to you bring for us fellow ostomates.

3 years ago, I like you had bowel cancer (stage 3) at an early age (42) and I love Frodo (baggins) for saving my life and I can do everything I did before.

Your posts always give a lift (and often a chuckle) to my wife and I as we see so many similarities to what we’ve been through!

Wishing you all the best in your new ventures. will not be the same without you. Xx

Bit late but had a mid week visit to visited a couple of the toilets during the day. Generally good and clean which can not@always be said at theme parks for some reason.

As always no shelf and mirror on different wall to the sink which@is not great for Ostomates.

please check out and their stoma aware campaign highlighting what makes a stoma friendly toilet. On average 1 in 335 of your visitors have a stoma and some small adjustments would make a big difference.

Awesome night to see it was a fantastic and historic show with great beats from the opening dj to the crescendo end!

Guest appearances from Stormzy, , and made the child extremely happy!

Toilet facilities for Ostomates were ok. Although they were tricky to find, due to lack of signage!

Standard issues being lack of shelf space meaning balancing act for all my supplies and no mirror by sink!

please check out and there fantastic campaign re stoma friendly toilets. 1 in 335 in the uk are Ostomates so in the crowd last night there would have been roughly 240 of us and little changes would make our life easier. 🙏🏻

Quick trip to do some archiving!

Reasonable toilets. Only real complaints were no shelf and the mirror (which was in the right place 👏🏻) had a sign over the bottom which was inconvenient.

in Westwood Cross Broadstairs. Pretty much bang average facilities. The fairly common mirror on opposite wall to sink. Please can companies think of putting a mirror above the sink, otherwise Ostomates risk 💩on the floor if changing a bag.

Also no shelf as usual.

Please check out and there fabulous campaign and information on what makes a stoma friendly toilet.
