✨🧠MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK🧠✨
💗An incredibly important subject, and one very close to my heart. Nearly everything regarding people’s eating behaviours, food choices and lifestyle is down to psychology; whether people are aware of it or not.
💗Low mood can be caused by multiple aspects in our lives, psychological factors, biological, environmental or even genetic.
🧠MOOD BOOSTING FOODS🧠
🍞Carbohydrates (Oats, wholegrains, seeds, nuts) for slow-release energy-stabilise blood sugar levels
🍗Protein (Lean meat, fish, legumes, soya products, nuts) provides amino acids vital to the brain for hormone regulation and aid control of blood sugar levels
🫒Unsaturated fats (Oily fish, nuts, olive oil, avocados, yoghurt, eggs). Fat sources that also contain omega 3&6 aid brain functioning.
🍅Plenty of fruit and veg. Achieving your 5-a-day will top up your vitamins minerals and provide fibre which support physical and mental health
💦Water - Aids hydration, concentration, helps bowel movements and reduce constipation
🍫Dark Chocolate- Contains antioxidants, reduces cortisol and can decrease stress.
‼️PLEASE NOTE: There are LOTS of varying factors that influence mental health including diet, our surrounding environment. No single food or lifestyle choice will fix poor mental health.
💗If you require further support for your mental health, PLEASE seek help through counselling, your GP or even make a start by opening up to a close friend or family member. It might seem difficult, but there is support out there if you need it.
💗Any questions, please let me know.
