TIPS FOR TRAVELLING TO THAILAND

THAILAND IS BACK ON THE LIST OF PLACES TO GO. AS OF JULY 1, TO ENTER YOU ONLY NEED A NEGATIVE COVID 19 TEST RESULT OR PROOF OF VACCINATION.

We are so excited that Thailand has relaxed its travel restrictions, it's made it much simpler to put it back on the holiday “bucket list”.

In a normal year, Thailand would see over 40 million Tourists. Since opening in February 2022 they have been aiming for just 10 million tourists! A far cry from where they were pre the pandemic.

The islands live off tourism, so we can only imagine the devastating impact the last 2 years have had on the livelihoods of many families in the region.

In an interview with Escape Australia, Mohamed Hawass, a software developer from Germany and his girlfriend Nadine moved to Thailand in December 2021 to live in Koh Samui. He said Koh Samui is very different today than it was before the virus hit. He went on to say that if you compared it to 2018 it's about 30% full.

Nualyai Theppitak, who runs Destination Detox Wellness Centre in Lamai Beach, Koh Samui says “Lamai feels like the buzz is on its way back”.
As far as we are concerned it couldn’t be a better time to travel to this picture-perfect country. The people will be happy to see you, the streets will not be so cramped, it will be like going back 10 years - its exciting times.

Over the last 20 years, we have been to Thailand at least every second year if not more and since lockdown, it has been one destination we have missed terribly and are so excited to go back to. WHAT COVID-19 REQUIREMENTS DO YOU NEED TO BE AWARE OF WHEN TRAVELLING TO SPAIN THIS SUMMER 22?

Summer Holidays in Spain 2022 are set to be filled with sun-happy brits and their families looking for a safe destination.

Spain has one of the highest Covid-19 vaccination rates in the world with over 83% of the population fully vaccinated. There are increased health control measures in place for tourism, leisure and hospitality providers giving travellers more security to ensure they can get on and have a blooming great time enjoying the sunshine, sand, beach and all the great things that Spain has to offer.

If you are thinking of travelling to Spain or are travelling to Spain this summer below we have put together what you need to be aware of as a vaccinated and non-vaccinated traveller. (Please note that this information can change at any time so please review with your travel agent and or look up the latest guidelines on the government website)

Not Fully Vaccinated

Before departure from the UK to Spain, you must take either a PCR or an Antigen test.

Previously Infected

If you have previously recovered from Covid-19, no tests are required for travel to Spain. Check how you can show proof of recovery in the Vaccination or Previous infection section.

Fully Vaccinated – with valid proof of vaccination

If you’re fully vaccinated, no tests are required for travel to Spain (excluding the Canary and Balearic Islands). Check how you can show proof of vaccination in the Vaccination or Previous infection section.

Pre-Travel Requirements

Travellers from the UK who can either show proof of being fully vaccinated, or of having recovered from prior COVID-19 infection in the last 6 months, or who are aged under 12 years old, do not need to complete Spain’s Travel Health Control form. Everyone else must complete Spain’s Travel Health Control form no more than 48 hours before travelling to Spain.

Entry and Testing rules for the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands may differ or change at short notice. You can see rules for the Canary Islands here, and for the Balearic Islands here.
Please note that, for the purposes of entry regulations, the UK is considered by Spain to be a ‘Third Country’ (i.e. a country not part of the European Union or the Schengen Area), therefore non-EU entry requirements apply.

Post Arrival

Regardless of vaccination status, you may be subject to additional checks at the point of entry including a temperature check, visual health assessment, or testing on arrival. Passengers may also be contacted and required to undertake a COVID-19 PCR or similar at any point up to 48 hours after their arrival in Spain.

Rules for Children

Children aged 11 and under do not need to complete an online Health Control Form before travel, show proof of being fully vaccinated on entry to Spain, take diagnostic tests prior to arrival, or show proof of having recovered from prior COVID-19 infection in the last 6 months.

For travellers aged 12 to 17, the requirements for fully vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers apply, however, the definition of ‘Fully Vaccinated’ is slightly different for travellers under 18: if you are aged 12 to 17 and have not received the booster, but have received two doses of a two-dose vaccine or one dose of a single-dose vaccine approved for use by Spain, then at least 14 days must have passed since your last dose, to qualify as fully vaccinated. You continue to qualify as fully vaccinated more than 270 days after your last dose and do not need to show proof of having received a booster to travel.

If you are partially vaccinated or not vaccinated at all you will need to check your country's destination and discover what kind of Lateral Flow Test you can do. Is it “at home” or is it a Supervised Lateral Flow Test that’s needed.

Do under 18’s need to take Covid Tests when travelling abroad?

It is country dependent and you do need to check the Covid 19 rules for the country you are going to. Saying that most under 12’s are exempt from these formalities. It is best to check.

If your child/children are aged between 12-17 years old normally the standard travel requirements apply. And usually, it is just the primary series vaccine. Please check this with the destination you are travelling to.

Tips for Travelling to France - What do YOU need to know?

You can travel to France. All you need to show is your proof of vaccination or show a negative Rapid Antigen test. This test can be done at home, unsupervised.

If you're not fully vaccinated - here is the key info you need to know?

All travellers 12 and over need to provide proof of a negative Antigen Test Result taken within 48 hours of pre-departure or a negative PCR test result.

Children - All children under 12 are exempt from all Covid travel restrictions

If you are fully vaccinated what you need;

If you have had a booster you are considered fully vaccinated

Q: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A LATERAL FLOW TEST AND A PCR TEST?

A: The lateral flow test is faster and a result can be submitted within a max of 30 mins. A PCR test is usually required to be sent off to a lab for analysis and a result to be sent back post-lab analysis.

Q: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SUPERVISED AND UNSUPERVISED RAPID LATERAL FLOW TEST?

A: On an unsupervised Lateral Flow Test, you follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer on the test box and upload the results yourself. On the supervised Lateral Flow Test a health professional or trained testing professional needs to watch you do the test and verify you have done it correctly.

Different countries have different rules and requirements regarding which negative Lateral Flow Test result they require. Please check the latest information on the government website for where you are travelling to.
