The following write up is from Noah's Ark Charity, based at the University of Wales Hospital in Cardiff. It is a little snippet of what our Ella has been through & how grateful we are as a family:

Little Ella may only be four but she’s been navigating life-threatening health challenges since before she was born. In Leah's 20 week scan it was discovered that Ella's heart was on the wrong side, compressing her right lung. She was also born with tracheo-oesophageal fistula, which means she was born unable to swallow. Ella needed to be resuscitated at birth and had her first surgery at three days old. Since then, Ella has needed over 36 oesophageal dilatations to stretch the narrowing of the oesophagus.

After celebrating her second birthday, Ella fell critically ill after suffering a rare but extremely dangerous complication from the dilations. A hole which had formed in her oesophagus had developed a refistula, causing a hole in her airway which left her unable to breathe.

Ella underwent open-heart surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital to repair the hole, using the lining of her heart to patch up her airway and repair her oesophagus. Her parents, Arwel and Leah, remember this time vividly and the memory of Ella sedated and ventilated at Noah's Ark still brings them to tears. Ella continues to check-ups and tests to monitor when she'll require another dilation. Arwel and Leah praise their daughter’s immense spirit and say that her joy brings light to all who know her.

Recently, Ella's 97-year-old great-grandfather Teg passed away. Teg was a keen supporter of the charity and at his funeral, the family chose to do a collection for the Noah's Ark Children’s Hospital Charity in his honour. Ella will be a patient until she reaches adult services, she is looked after by the respiratory and cardiac team, which is why Teg wanted this collection to be given to the Noah's Ark Charity. This week, Leah, Arwel, Ella, and her younger brother Ollie, visited the hospital to present a donation of £715 with Ella signing the cheque on the family’s behalf.

Leah and Arwel are so deeply grateful to Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for saving Ella's life 3 years ago ❤️

Another hospital order dispatched this weekend: 6 packs containing 6 sheets each = 36 in total. The nurses / parents are free to cut the hypafix into any size / shape that suits the child's needs on the ward.

Cheeky Creations has a new family member 🩵

Introducing Ollie Flynn Davies. He gave us a little shock when he was born and he needed a short stay in High Dependancy. Being back in that environment, with all the alarms, wires, smells, medical terminology, etc was all very triggering (if you know, you know), but we feel so lucky to have come out the other side with a strong and healthy baby boy.

A massive thank you has to go to all the doctors and nurses in Glangwilli Special Care Baby Unit (Hywel Dda Health Board) who acted quickly when Ollie was born and gave him, and us so much support and love every single day. You are very special people.

This first pic was when Ollie's big sister, Ella met him for the first time 🩷 Seeing her staring into an incubator, where she spent 9 weeks of her life definitely pulled on our heart strings. She has no idea how much she went through 4 years ago as well.

Ollie has been an absolute joy since being home. He is now 10 weeks old, fit as a fiddle and I now have the time and energy to fulfill your orders again. Thank you for your patience during another scary, but amazing time in our lives 🥰

I am so sorry for the radio silence recently, I have been working away in the background on your orders, but have also been making and about to send out 3 huge hospital orders!

I am so grateful for each and every order but to now be supplying to Paediatric Units is very very rewarding.

This is an example of one order of Oxygen stickers sent out to Colorado this week, just because I think the photo is aesthetically pleasing on the eye 🤗

Thank you to Bun Bun Books for 'My Wonder Line'

Our Ella has had life saving operations and has 5 scars in total on her upper body, something that we would never want her to be concious of. This will certainly help us explain to her why her 'Wonder Lines' are there. It's so sensitively written, it talks about similarities and differences in a colourful, child-friendly way.

It is such an emotive book for anyone that you know with a line of their own. We will show Ella, through this book, that she can celebrate her personal story and never be ashamed of her special scars 💪

What makes this book and Author even more special, some proceeds from the sale of these books go towards Tiny Tickers "The Tiny Hearts Charity" who work to improve the survival chances for those babies born with serious heart conditions ❤

🎉 HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!

2022 was a great year for my little business - it has gained so many new individual customers and followers, but in the last 6 months, the customer base has grown and Cheeky Creations products are now supplied to various health boards across the UK ⭐

This year was also a success on a personal level. I got married to my best friend and our daughter, Ella has gone from strength to strength, and has spent far less time in hospitals in the last 12 months 🙌

On a very random side note, Cheeky Creations has also featured on rally stages, as my new husband (!) has returned to rallying. It's great that he is also spreading the word. Every little helps ()
