Want to get fit? Think about joining a group fitness class or get a gym buddy. It can be hard to train on your own, to push yourself without somebody there to hold you accountable. Working out with a group, or training with a friend can make a real difference. Adding that social element to training can be a real bonus. Don't worry if you're only a beginner or a bit shy most classes are pretty welcoming and there are normally classes for all levels of fitness. Remember you don't have to go to a gym to join a class, check out YouTube or Zoom for classes you can do online. Living your best life

Problem sleeping? Whether you're 50plus or not confront sleeplessness. If you are lying awake unable to sleep, do not force it. Get up and do something relaxing for a bit, and return to bed when you feel sleepier.

Want to get fit? Before start ask yourself "why?". Before you begin your journey of staying fit, be sure to ask yourself why you are doing it. Maybe it's to make sure you're around long enough to see your grandkids grow up, or maybe it's to be healthy enough to travel the world once you retire or maybe it's because you want to just look good and you're not ready to give up. Whatever the case may be, having a reason behind what you're doing will help you stick with that commitment and keep it a top priority in your life. Living your best life .

Problem sleeping? Whether you're 50plus or not, go easy on the alcohol before bed. While that nightcap really can make it feel easier to fall asleep, when your buzz wears off later in the night, you're more likely to wake up frequently. Living your best life

Problem sleeping? Resist the urge to snooze. Sleep caught between soundings of that alarm is just not high-quality sleep. The snooze button often disturbs REM sleep, which can make us feel groggier than when we wake up during other stages of sleep. You don't have to launch out of bed in the morning, but setting the alarm for a slightly later time and skipping a snooze cycle or two could bring big benefits. living your best lift .com

Why do men over 50 suffer so badly from depression and anxiety? Juggling the multiple responsibilities of midlife can take a toll. Caring for family members, dealing with bereavement or divorce; the pressures of work, the expectations of yourself and others whilst coping with an uncertain job market and financial pressures can create a toxic environment. An environment in which depression can take hold.

"Men between the ages of 49 - 59 are some of the least happy people in the UK with some of the lowest levels of life satisfaction and the highest levels of anxiety."

2016 ONS (Office of National Statistics).
