Repair matters more than Perfection
I believed healthy relationships were the ones that didn’t argue,
Now I think they’re the ones that find their way back to each other.
The ones where difficult conversations are had instead of “sweeping it under the rug”,
Where hurt is acknowledged and accountability exists.
Where both people are willing to pause and understand what might be happening underneath the reaction.
Because sometimes the argument isn’t really about the argument, sometimes its old fear, old wounds, stress, overwhelm or two nervous systems trying to feel safe in different ways.
That doesn’t make hurtful behaviours ok, but it can help us stop seeing each other as the enemy and start getting curious about what’s really happening.
On my journey of healing I’ve had to learn to repair and bring this in to my relationships, for me repair looks like acknowledgment , it looks like validating each others feelings and perception. It looks like appreciation, even for the small things, it looks like showing up after difficult moment and choosing each other each time.
Not perfectly,
Just consistently.
Because perfection isn’t the goal.
Finding your way back to each other is.
