We’re delighted that Nina, our Director, and Sarah, our new Donor Conceived Person Liaison Volunteer, were invited to speak at Gedeon Richter UK's Fertility Nurse Congress last month.

DCN was asked to speak about the experience of families navigating life since the law change in 2005. We asked if we could invite a donor conceived person to join us and they enthusiastically accepted the suggestion. It’s really important to us that there is breadth of representation at these kinds of events and that nurses and other professionals get the opportunity to hear from the people directly affected by their work. It was a really interesting day and we were glad to be a part of it.

** Online workshop for parents of donor conceived children aged 10-20. Last chance to book for 2026 **

Like many parents of donor conceived children, you may find the idea of your child connecting with the donor or half-siblings daunting. You might be unsure how to raise the topic, worried about how your child will feel, or want a safe space to explore what it could mean if - or when - your child chooses to make contact.

Our 'Continuing the Conversation' workshop offers a supportive space to explore these questions, hear from donor conceived people, connect with other parents, and gain practical guidance. You’ll leave better equipped to navigate conversations with your child, understand their potential questions and feelings, and feel more confident in supporting their decision.

We know that people consider many different routes to donor conception, including finding a s***m donor independently through social media or online communities.

If you’re thinking about this path, having clear information from the start can help you think through the implications for everyone involved, both now and in the future. A child’s conception will be part of their story, and of yours, so having clarity around the donor and your choices is important.
