A sunspot eruption on Jan. 18th has produced an X1.9-class solar flare. The explosion lasted for hours, which makes this flare even more powerful than than its rating would suggest.

Of greater interest is the CME. The explosion launched a full halo CME with a significant Earth-directed component. NASA predictS that it will reach Earth during the early hours of Jan. 20th.

The impact could cause a strong G3 class geomagnetic storm with mid-latitude auroras.

A SOLAR STORM IS HEADING DIRECTLY FOR EARTH: Strong G3-class geomagnetic storms are possible on Dec. 9th when a full-halo CME is expected to strike our planet. The storm cloud was hurled in our direction on Dec. 6th by an almost-X-class solar flare.

All eyes are on a monster sunspot, which seems poised to erupt with an epic Earth-directed flare. Instead, the “monster” is quiet and other sunspots are providing the action like this one on its way.

A group of closely-knit, large sunspots are turning toward Earth. M-flares and a big sunspot which has a delta-class magnetic field that harbors energy for (even the strongest) X-flares are heading our way.

Earth is almost in the strike zone of these active regions, and we will be squarely bulls-eyed later this week.

Take care of your bodies and sleep in the best way you can.

STRONG GEOMAGNETIC STORM PREDICTED:
NOAA forecasters are predicting a strong G3-class geomagnetic storm on March 23rd, when a CME is expected to directly hit Earth.

The CME was hurled into space yesterday by an M1-class solar flare from sunspot 4028.

It’s a faint and wimpy-looking CME, and normally wouldn’t cause a strong storm. - However, the Russell-McPherron effect boosts the effectiveness of CMEs around the equinox.
