Ig/YouTube: .tactics It was developed in 2010 and its premise is for self-preservation and fluidity of motion. It involves various disciplines and philosophies that create a harmony with the pupil. We make sure that the pupil himself/herself is the

weapon but we incorporate tools like bare hand fluid motions, kicks, arnis sticks, knives, short impact weapons, and other tools to help improve one’s movement. Fluid Tactics also incorporates kickboxing, boxing, and Jeet Kune Do concepts, and physical conditioning to help facilitate growth and progress. We also involve human psychology and alternative perceptions to create scenarios for the pupil. We like to emphasize the importance of knowing and understanding the yin and the yang of the martial arts. Meaning, they must understand the violence of the art of self-preservation and at the same time understand that they must be able to control their emotions and actions when it comes to physical or psychological stress. I give emphasis on the flow of movement and the meditation and clarity it gives its pupils; Knowing that they could very well protect themselves but also be able to control the emotions that could turn into aggression and anger. Each scenario can give either a fight or a flight response to the person. This is where the clarity and focus of Fluidity comes to play. The student must be able to respond to any and all forms of threat pertaining to his or her personal space or for the protection of their loved ones. Therefore, Fluid Tactics not only trains the physical aspect of the marital arts. It is an embodiment of what true martial artists should be. There will always be threats that will come in. And it always comes unexpectedly. Fluid Tactics helps students understand that the initial response is sometimes the difference between life and death. We show students how to respect others by knowing themselves through their movement.

No matter your age, you can still improve your nervous system.

As we get older, our minds settle into what we’ve practiced for decades. Sometimes, it might feel very difficult to imagine that we’re able to change habits, or form them. Being able to access our nervous system and play on our neuroplasticity is possible even when we think we can’t.

Connections can still be formed and new knowledge can still be applied no matter the age. It feels like magic but our biology creates that incredible way of adapting and finding new pathways. It isn’t always going to be pleasant but it’ll always be worth it.

In my little corner of Filipino martial arts, part of the goal is to become aware of our own movements and habits. If it isn’t working for us, there are pathways that will lead us into shifting it and finding a better way of expression and awareness.

Growth doesn’t just show up or happen.
It’s built through training and discomfort.

In training individuals, one of the goals is to have the art be installed deeply enough that the expressiveness becomes honest while in play. This allows exploration that doesn’t have to look like an existing technique or a memorized move list. It becomes more personal.

This means creativity and a deeper understanding of how our bodies are able to move while responding to real time threat start to harmonize. It is a strong defensive/counter offensive mindset and a fluidity in movement that involves personal interpretation of combative movement.

In a real situation, techniques don’t win the fight. It’s our ability to stay present enough to move and defend our space with brutal effectiveness. This requires adaptation within a chaotic or violent moment.
To be prepared for that, we have to be able to move without doubt or hesitation.

Fill the gaps. Stay fluid.
