My Mum puts it succintly: "In one of your jobs you whoop people up and in the other you calm them down." For a while, that felt like a contradiction. BUT, it is all about the balance! Our nervous systems are designed for action AND rest!

I teach Clubbercise AND I help people through burnout (NOT by sending them to a high impact exercise class - haha!) I love a sober rave AND a nervous system reset.

I'm now claiming the yin yang symbol! The white part (Zen) has a calm lotus flower; the black part (Mayhem) has a record to depict the music.

🪷 ZEN — In the coming weeks I will be sharing nervous system resets, burnout recovery tools, and AI for wellbeing (think: a little pocket coach, available whenever you need it). I have got loads up my sleeve and I cannot wait to share it all.
🖤 MAYHEM — Clubbercise, sober events, dancing, raving, glow sticks, loud music, flashing lights: joy is also medicine!

And there is something else coming very soon — a group membership that brings all of this together. More on that next week. 👀

There's an old idea, often credited to the speaker Jim Rohn, that we are the average of the five people we spend the most time with.

When you first hear it, it can sound a bit brutal. But it's not about judging your friends or family. It's a simple recognition that we're social creatures, and we absorb the attitudes, mindsets, and energy of the people around us.

If you're surrounded by people who are cynical and complaining, chances are, you’ll want to join in! If you're surrounded by people who are curious, kind, and supportive, that tends to rub off on you too.

This is not (necessarily!) about thinking who you’re going to cut off. It's just about noticing who's in your 'five'? How do you feel after you've spent time with them? Energised? Drained? Inspired? Anxious?

And, perhaps the most important question: what kind of energy are you bringing to other people's five?

Overnight oats are one of my go-to breakfasts — simple, filling, and properly evidence-based.

Oats contain beta-glucan, a soluble fibre that works in the gut by binding to bile acids (made from cholesterol) and helping remove them from the body.
To replace those bile acids, the liver pulls more cholesterol from the bloodstream — which helps lower LDL (“bad”) cholesterol over time.

“Fatigue makes cowards of us all.”

In sport, this idea comes up a lot.
When athletes are exhausted, performance drops — but so does confidence!

They hesitate, second-guess, avoid risk and play smaller than they’re capable of.

Psychology sees the same thing.
When we’re tired, the brain’s threat system takes over.
Everything feels heavier, harder and more dangerous than it actually is.

So if you notice yourself:

doubting decisions you’d usually stand by

avoiding things you normally handle

feeling less brave, less clear, less steady...
..it might not be a personal flaw. It might just be fatigue 🥴

Before you push, judge yourself, or try to “sort it out”…
check your energy first.

Saturday is a good day to do this (unless you have a Saturday-only job!)
