In contrast to the sparse winter landscape own lives can feel busy and over committed especially over the festive season. We can place a huge burden of expectation on ourselves, and it can feel stressful and overwhelming. Lets take our cue from nature, its time conserve our energy. Busyness and burnout are not badges of honour, but they can become addictive and lead to anxiety, depression and lowered immune responses . When you choose to manage your energy intentionally you can prevent the body from taking matters into its own hands. Being switched off against your own will is no fun. Commit to rest in your schedule especially during winter as if it were an important appointment to keep.

Rest allows healing of the mind, body and spirit to occur. It allows us to be more resilient throughout the winter. When choose rest we become more attuned to our personal energy reservoir within us and can prioritise where we use this resource. It gives us the ability to create boundaries and honour our yes’s and no’s.So today look at your schedule for the coming days and weeks, where could you keep any appointment with rest. What could you cancel or let go of to enable this to happen. If it feels to far from your normal then practise this in. micro moments during the day. Take a full five minutes out of the hour to enjoy your cuppa instead of drinking it while you workIf you are worried what others might think of you taking timeout, be honest, ask for what you need and in doing so give them permission to do the same.Check my stories for ideas about how to up your rest practice over winter.
