Why you’ve lost your spark

Sometimes this isn’t just emotional.

When sleep is off, circadian rhythm is disrupted, and your system has been under pressure for long enough, dopamine-related reward signalling can become less responsive.

That means the brain starts giving you less of a sense that things are interesting, energising, rewarding, or worth moving towards.
So life feels flatter.
Drive drops.
Pleasure feels harder to access.

And things stop feeling as compelling as they usually do.

And when that happens, you often start reaching for quicker hits instead — more scrolling, more sugar, more caffeine, more snacking, more novelty.

Because your system is trying to feel something.

That can affect your energy, your appetite, your weight, and your forward momentum in life — because when ordinary things stop feeling rewarding, it becomes harder to stay engaged, harder to sustain effort, and harder to keep moving towards what actually matters to you.

So it’s not always about trying harder.

It’s the kind of thing you can make once, keep in the fridge, and have for lunch with a side salad or extra veg, or even warm for dinner with something fresh on the side.

The courgette keeps it soft,
the feta gives it that salty hit,
and the harissa lifts the whole thing without making it complicated.

Makes 4–6 servings

You can eat it warm, cold, or at room temperature.

I’d have this with a simple salad or extra veg on the side to make it a more complete meal.
