The world can seem like a difficult and confusing place for children. Itโs important now than ever to understand what your child is going through and support them in the best way possible.
We were joined by Colette Etheridge, a Parent Cloud Counsellor and Child Behaviour specialist, who gave parents advice on what do if your child is experiencing mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.
Here are 3 simple things you can do.
1. Take small steps: don't push the child into the thing they fear. This will undermine the relationship. Instead, let the child go at a much slower pace.
2. Keep your voice low and slow: Minimise your words, keep your voice low and slow down your pace.
3. Accept their worries/sadness: It is okay that they are worried and/or sad, and possibly perfectly normal for them in their world.
