🌟 Such lovely news to celebrate in sensory integration research!

We are hugely pleased to see this new paper published in *Brain Sciences*, particularly as we know and value the work of Sue Allen and Shelly Lane.

Congratulations to Susan Allen, Fiona Knott, Amanda Branson and Shelly J. Lane on this important contribution to our understanding of sensory integration differences and everyday family life.

📖 *Daily Life Impacts and Desired Support for Mothers of Children with Sensory Integration Differences, with and Without Autism* (2026).

Drawing on the experiences of 132 mothers in the UK and Ireland, the research highlights something that matters enormously to us at ASI Wise and The Sensory Project.

🌱 Sensory integration differences can influence everyday participation, relationships and family life, whether or not a child has an autism diagnosis.

🌱 Families value being listened to, understood and supported through practical advice, positive relationships and accessible information.

🌱 Occupational therapy, parent coaching, supportive communities and greater awareness across schools and services all have important roles to play.

What particularly resonates with us is the emphasis on looking beyond diagnosis to understand the person, their environment, their relationships and what matters in everyday life.

This reflects our commitment to participation focused, neuro-affirming practice, meaningful co-production and sharing accessible resources with families and professionals.

We were also delighted to see ASI Wise acknowledged for supporting data collection alongside Sensory Integration Education and RCOT CYPF.

A heartfelt thank you to the mothers who shared their experiences and to the research team for ensuring those voices contribute to the evidence.

At 𝗔𝗦𝗜 𝗪𝗶𝘀𝗲, we believe learning is relational, interactive and embodied, just like the therapeutic relationships we build in practice.

Because developing your therapy hands and clinical eyes matters.

Learning to administer and interpret standardised assessments, observing subtle differences in movement and sensory responses, experiencing handling and positioning, and exploring what those findings mean for everyday participation all benefit from opportunities to practise, question and reflect together.

And it’s not about replacing the assessment tools you already use.

It’s about adding another layer to your existing OT, PT and SLT assessment toolkit, drawing on a range of standardised and non-standardised assessments, clinical observations and practical resources to deepen your understanding and strengthen your clinical reasoning.

Through years of teaching and learning alongside therapists across the world, we continue to hear how valuable these shared, hands-on experiences are in building confidence and translating learning into practice.

Asynchronous learning has its place. So does live online learning. But some aspects of developing practical assessment and therapeutic skills benefit enormously from being together, in person.
