We can’t believe it’s already been one week since the ISHA Annual Scientific Meeting in Bruges!

What an incredible few days it was - filled with inspiring presentations, thought-provoking discussions, hands-on learning, new connections and plenty of opportunities to catch up with friends and colleagues from across the global ISHA community 🌎

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us in Bruges and helped make the meeting so special. From our faculty and speakers to our delegates, sponsors, partners, volunteers and the entire ISHA community - we couldn’t have done it without you! 🙌

We hope you’ve all returned home with new ideas, new connections and plenty of memories from an unforgettable meeting.

🎉 WELCOME TO OUR NEW ISHA PRESIDENT | DR MARCELO QUEIROZ

Following the conclusion of the ISHA Annual Scientific Meeting in Bruges, we are delighted to announce the transition of the ISHA Presidency from Dr Nicolas Bonin to Dr Marcelo Queiroz of Brazil 🇧🇷

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Dr Nicolas Bonin for his leadership, dedication and contribution to the ISHA community during his time as President 🙏

We are delighted to welcome Dr Marcelo Queiroz as the new President of ISHA.
Dr Queiroz is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in hip surgery, based in São Paulo, Brazil. His clinical practice focuses on hip preservation surgery, both open and arthroscopic, and hip arthroplasty.

Prior to joining the Presidential Line, Dr Queiroz served as ISHA’s General Secretary and has held appointments with several leading organisations, including SBQ (Brazilian Hip Society), ISAKOS, SLARD (Latin American Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Society) and SLACC (Latin American Hip Society).

His clinical practice is based at Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo, where he continues to contribute to the advancement of hip surgery and preservation.

We look forward to the next chapter of ISHA under Dr Marcelo Queiroz’s leadership and to continuing to advance hip preservation, education and collaboration across our global community 🌎💙

An unforgettable evening at the ISHA Gala Dinner! ✨

What an incredible time we had celebrating together at the magnificent Provincial Palace in Bruges. A truly special evening filled with wonderful company, meaningful conversations and the opportunity to connect with colleagues and friends from across the global hip and sports medicine community.

One comment from the meeting has really stayed with us: “This is the one meeting I will never miss.” ❤️

To hear those words means so much to us and perfectly captures what makes ISHA so special - a community that brings people together, inspires collaboration and creates connections that last far beyond the meeting itself.

🌟 MEMBER SPOTLIGHT | Dr Claudio Mella 🌟

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on Dr Claudio Mella, an ISHA member for more than 15 years and a longstanding supporter of our community. 💙

Dr Mella studied Medicine at the University of Chile, graduating in 1985, before moving to Germany to complete his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Endo Klinik and St. Georg Hospital in Hamburg.

Since returning to Santiago, Chile in 1998, he has combined his clinical practice with a strong commitment to education, serving as a Professor of Traumatology and continuing to teach at Clínica Alemana – Universidad del Desarrollo.

Over the past 20 years, his professional focus has centred on Pelvis and Hip Surgery, and he was one of the pioneers in developing Hip Arthroscopy in Chile. Alongside his clinical work, Claudio has dedicated significant time to education in Hip Preservation Surgery internationally.

Throughout this journey, he has been a loyal supporter of ISHA since its early days, contributing to the growth of our community and the advancement of hip preservation education around the world. 🌎

🦴 1ST COLLABORATIVE BASIC HIP ARTHROSCOPY CADAVER COURSE

ISHA is delighted to collaborate on the 1st Collaborative Basic Hip Arthroscopy Cadaver Course, taking place on 13–14 November 2026 in Istanbul, Türkiye, in collaboration with ISHA Partner Society, the Turkish Society of Preventive Hip Surgery.

📍 Istanbul Acibadem University – CASE Laboratory

The two-day course combines theoretical teaching, case-based discussion and hands-on cadaveric training, providing participants with an opportunity to develop their understanding and practical skills in basic hip arthroscopy.

The programme will cover key topics including:
🔹 Clinical examination of the hip and FAI
🔹 Hip arthroscopy setup and technique
🔹 Radiological assessment and FAI findings
🔹 Pincer, subspine and cam deformities
🔹 Chondrolabral lesions, labral repair and reconstruction
🔹 Capsular management and microinstability
🔹 Perioperative complications and clinical outcomes
🔹 Case discussions
🔹 Hands-on wet-lab cadaver training

The course will bring together experienced faculty and participants for two days of focused education and practical learning in hip arthroscopy.
