I’m looking forward to the fresh new green growth on our trees in spring but… for now I’m still enjoying those wild gnarly shapes, and what you can see through them!

This is a swede and coconut with . Why buckwheat?

A couple of years ago I had my microbiome tested. I was told that any kind of rice - including wholegrain, brown and black rice - was no good for my gut. NB this is not the case for everyone, it was advice relating to the specific makeup of my individual microbiome.

Buckwheat is a great alternative. It cooks as quickly as rice and is also gluten free. It is actually a seed and not a grain, and hence contains more nutrients than rice in terms of vitamins and minerals. And it’s rich in fibre.

Buckwheat has a short growing season and grows well in cool climates, so you can find it grown locally in Europe. Yum yum.

Wowzer. In this they say that only 2% of nutrition information disseminated on social media is accurate.
Only 2%… of course I don’t believe everything I see on social media but …. 2%… 😰

I’m feeling a bit paranoid now, but please rest assured that for my posts, I rely on the course materials from the college where I trained ( ) and double check with several reputable sources such as and and also NHS resources (if available).

Carry on munching.
