No one stands in front of a sunset trying to fix it. We just watch, letting the colors do whatever they're going to do, finding beauty in exactly what unfolds without our input.

But somehow, with people, we forget that same instinct.

We meet someone and immediately start noticing what could be adjusted. Softer here. Less intense there. A little more like this, a little less like that. We treat people like drafts instead of finished works, projects to improve rather than moments to witness.

That's not love. That's control disguised as care.

Real appreciation means watching someone the way you'd watch a sunset. Not analyzing what should be different, but noticing what's already there. Their sharp edges. Their unexpected colors. The parts of them that don't fit neatly into what you expected, but make the whole thing more beautiful because of it.

People, like sunsets, were never meant to be curated. They were meant to be experienced exactly as they are.

The moment you stop trying to edit someone and simply witness them, you might finally see what was always there: something wonderful, complete, needing no adjustment at all.
