🎧🎶 Music Lab with Jess | Thursdays, 4-5pm | From Thursday 10th September

Join Jess for her fun and interactive Music Lab sessions - exploring beats, songwriting, sound effects and contemporary pop and rock music. Using creative tools like GarageBand, you'll make music together in a relaxed, SEN-friendly space with opportunities for both verbal and non-verbal participation.

On Friday's, join Saskia for her much-loved Sounds & Stories sessions. Together you'll explore the changing seasons through music, stories and nature-inspired sounds, with songs, gentle sound healing and musical meditations designed to bring relaxation, creativity and fun.

☀️🎶 What a summer it's been! 🎶☀️

And just like that, our Essex Activate summer sessions have come to an end!

We've had such a fantastic few weeks filled with music, creativity, movement, laughter and plenty of opportunities for children and young people to express themselves in their own way. From making music and exploring instruments to arts and crafts, dance, mindfulness, games and so much more, it's been wonderful to see everyone getting stuck in and making the sessions their own.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this Summer possible:

🎵 Our brilliant team of Music Therapists, Community Musicians and Food Assistants, for bringing so much creativity, energy and care to every session.

🙌 Our amazing volunteers, who helped everything run smoothly and brought their own enthusiasm to the sessions.

❤️ All the children and young people who came along and made the summer what it was. Thank you for your creativity, enthusiasm and willingness to get involved!

🏡 Langton Hall / 8th Chelmsford Scouts, for welcoming us into your wonderful space throughout the summer.

And a huge thank you to Essex County Council, Holiday Food and Activities and the Department for Education for the funding and support that made these sessions possible.

We're so proud of what we've created together and incredibly grateful to everyone who has been part of our Essex Activate Summer. ❤️

We had a FANTASTIC day at yesterday .uk .

Today we are celebrating the return of wonderful Jess! 🎶🥰

Jess began working with Ace as a project intern last summer and is returning as a newly qualified Music Therapist after achieving Distinction in her MA at Anglia Ruskin University. She has a background in support work with adult learning disability and creative youth work, Jess has accrued experience throughout her degree in paediatric neurorehabilitation, mental health, neuro-disability, learning disability and dementia across community, education, and medical settings.

Jess is a singer-songwriter and saxophonist with interest in how music technology can be used in music therapy. Alongside music therapy, Jess is involved with several projects at the Cambridge Institute of Music Therapy Research as a Research Assistant. She is presenting her major project 'TikTok #1 Trending: An Exploration of the Adolescent Algorithm in Music Therapy with Adolescents Involved with CAMHS' at the British Association of Music Therapy conference this November!

Join Community Musician Saskia to explore seasonal changes and nature through music, sounds and stories.

We will explore:

Missing our Essex Activate sessions this week? 😭🎶

Our final week is next week - and we can't wait to sing, play, craft and move with you all! 🪘🕺

Very limited spaces remain to join us at one of our remaining 4 fun-filled sessions next Wednesday + Thursday, giving children the opportunity to get creative, make new friends and enjoy a wide range of engaging activities in a safe and inclusive environment!

Our sessions are led by HCPC-registered Music Therapists and experienced Community Musicians, with children of all abilities welcome.

Activities include:

🎵 Music making
🎨 Arts and crafts
💃 Movement and dance
🧘 Mindfulness and relaxation activities
📚 Sensory stories
🎤 Songs, games and improvisation
🍽️ A hot meal and snacks

We are passionate about creating opportunities for children to express themselves, build confidence, develop social connections and, most importantly, have fun.

Our sessions are inclusive of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Please note that we are unable to provide 1:1 support or personal care within the group setting.

🎵 FREE VIRTUAL MUSIC GROUP TASTERS THIS AUGUST 🎵

Our Short Breaks funded virtual music groups are offering two special taster sessions this August.

Both groups are live, interactive and inclusive, with opportunities for children and young people of all ages and abilities to take part through music, sounds, stories, movement and creative activities.

🎧 Music Lab with Jess
Thursday 13th August | 1-2pm

Join Music Therapist Jess for an interactive session exploring:

🎵 Beats and rhythm
🎵 Songwriting
🎵 Sound effects
🎵 Contemporary pop & rock music
🎵 Creative music-making using GarageBand

There are opportunities for both verbal and nonverbal participation, and no musical experience is needed.

About Wiggle and Jiggles:
Sessions focus on baby development, through live music making and baby massage, we will introduce new ways to bond with your baby. Our group will be returning in September on Wednesdays at Chelmsford Community Church, contact us now to register your interest before bookings go live. For babies aged 12 weeks - pre crawling.

It's nearly time for Wiggles and Jiggles! Our FREE mum and baby group starts on 16th September at Chelmsford Community Church. Register your interest now.

Sessions are for babies aged 12 weeks->pre crawling.

We focus on baby development, through live music making and baby massage we will introduce new ways for you to bond with your baby.

Sessions are also focused on maternal mental wellbeing.
