Ordinary beauty is often hard to see, when our senses are filled with the horrors of the world. When was the last time you noticed the sun warmth coming through the shade of trees, the gentle wind cooling down the heat, the sounds of birds and wind shaking the grass?
A kind of Seeing that does not negate the scary, sorrowful and rage-inducing state that humans are marinating in, that does not try to hide the difficulty of life, and one that also sees the ordinary beauty in its unpretentious glory. This can come with a heart gently cracking, or as we say in greek "heart orchard" - "καρδιά περιβόλι".
Grief can often be the distance between seeing the messiness of world clearly, and loving it for what it is, not what we wish it was or thought that it should be. And paradoxically, this can free up our hands to effect lasting, positive change in the world.
In about one month, we'll gather online with to tend to some of these grief threads. See you there? Link in bio.
