THOUGHTS ON BEHAVIOUR CHARTS AT SCHOOL? Good? Bad? Necessary? đ¤ˇââď¸
I understand itâs a tool to keep children in check and encourage good behaviour but could it be more a cause for more stress than encouragement? Interested to know what other people think??
On the surface, it seems okay when they are being rewarded but just as my 7 year old has said, it creates pressure to be perfect - is that what we want?
On the flip side, when a child is given a negative stamp, what is it doing to our childâs growing brains and what if they get it wrong?
I have had countless clients of mine go back to memories & moments from school years in which their belief system shifted. Itâs these moments which often need the healing and space to be heard.
My child can vividly remember a time in which she was given a red for a situation which was misunderstood. She has played over the injustice, embarrassment, upset over and over againâŚthis is even after we cleared things up and stopped the consequence of loosing her free time.
Iâm sure there are quick wins we can learn from children to help shape the school system betterâŚ
Any views on what changes would be good?
