Are you still depriving yourself of the tastiest part of the chicken by removing the skin? Are you reducing not only your pleasure but your health by choosing low-fat options? Do you still need some convincing about the dangers of the low-fat diet?

This is the final part of a 4-part series on the fallacy of the low-fat and low saturated fat diets.

In the previous post of the series I focused on the health benefits of saturated fat. In this post I will give some more reasons why you should not be choosing low-fat options and I will give some simple guidelines on how much fat to eat.

So are you still afraid of fat and saturated fat? It would not be surprising after 6 decades of misinformed public health policy.

In part 3 of this series on the low-fat and low saturated fat diet I hope to erode away some more of that fear by focusing on the health benefits of saturated fat.

Exploring the many benefits of saturated fat So are you still afraid of fat and saturated fat? It would not be surprising after 6 decades of misinformed public health policy promoting the low-fat diet. In the previous post of this series I described the importance of essential fatty acids and of fat...

When a falsehood is repeated time and time again we start to take its veracity for granted. That is why I am presenting a wide range of evidence in this series on the fallacy of the low-fat and low saturated fat diet.

In the previous post of the series I described how the low-fat diet came to be promoted despite a lack of evidence for any benefits to heart health or for weight loss and I outlined some possible mechanisms for the corresponding increase in obesity in the industrialised world.

In this second part of the four part series on the fallacy of the low-fat and low saturated fat diet I describe the role of essential and conditionally essential fatty acids, the importance of lipids for your brain and cell membranes and why fats have been essential for our evolution as human beings.

I also discuss the micronutrients and beneficial non-nutritive plant chemicals that are increased in a full-fat diet.

Lipids and essential fatty acids for the health of your body and brain This is the second of a four-part series on the fallacy of the low-fat and low saturated fat diet. In the previous post I described how the low-fat and low saturated fat diet came to be promoted despite a lack of evidence for.......

When we repeatedly hear a message throughout our lifetimes we often come to believe it without question. For many of us this has been the case with the message that fat and saturated fat cause weight gain and heart disease.

What if I told you there was never any good evidence in support of these ideas and that in fact fat and saturated fat are likely to benefit your health? What if I told you that depriving yourself of the pleasure of fatty foods could in fact be harmful?

In this first of a four part series I explain the fallacy of the low-fat and low saturated fat diet, outline some of the history of the public health policy to encourage the reduction of fat and saturated fat and describe why foods low in saturated fat aren’t always better for you, instead, exploring some of the benefits of lipids – fats, oils, and other fatty substances such as cholesterol and phospholipids.

Exploring the history and evidence of the low-fat diet Have you dropped the full-fat cream and opted for chicken breast to avoid weight gain and heart disease? In this first of a four part series I explain the fallacy of the low-fat and low saturated fat diet, outline some of the history of the publ...

Stress is such a huge factor in health and I am always telling my clients to take time off to rest when possible, but sometimes life happens and there you are with a baby to look after in the night, or a loved one has become ill and needs your care and attention, or your neighbours are making noise at night and keeping you awake, and you still need to get on and do your work, pay the bills and look after the children.

So what do you do in times of stress? Do you use stimulants like caffeine to pick you up during the day and alcohol to wind you down for bed?

What if I told you there was a supplement that can improve your mental focus during the day, whilst keeping your stress levels down, boosting your mood and helping you to sleep at night?

And what if I told you this low-cost supplement actually protects your brain in the long-term rather than shrinking your brain as alcohol does? And what if this supplement also had health benefits for your heart, gut, liver and immune system and was non-addictive? Click on the link to find out more.

In the previous post/video in this 2-part series I described hormesis as a process by which certain stressors can make you stronger and have an anti-ageing effect and I described some of the underlying mechanisms.

In this post I focus more on the practical side of hormesis so that you can safely benefit from hormesis.
