Stop trying to get small and instead try to get strong. I’ve still yet to meet a single person who doesn’t want to be strong. Don’t co fuse that with big but strong. We know it’s a great metric of life longevity so please get strong 💪🏼

Too many people continue to chase how sweaty they are instead of how they feel and how much they enjoyed their training. Sweat is simply how your body regulates temperatures, it doesn’t mean a better workout.

The classic exercising to punish your body for what you’ve eaten and behaved. Instead use it to improve your life, to run and play with your children, not to reverse a busy weekend.

Far too common, changing workouts constantly.

It’s a very common trait of people who lack structure and a goal. Just random workouts. Yes it’s great you’re exercising but it’s normally quite inefficient.

One take wonder in both video and exercise.

I knew I needed to get some exercise done to feel good and move my body. I also wanted to post some helpful content so this is what you get.

I went to the extent of putting some captions on in a nice colour which I hope you like. Showing up is still showing up so that’ll do for me today.

Keep showing up for you 😋

As a dad my Instagram feed shows this to me a lot and it’s getting boring.

Being guilt tripped to get up at silly hours to train so I can be present for my family or I’m not disciplined enough.

What happened to exercising when your children are awake so you can set an example?

My wife likes to do a 6am class throughout the week and leaves the house just after 5:30am to get there. Realistically I’m never getting up before then to train but that’s just me.

Social media is now starting to showcase these pure optimised lives and it’s becoming so disconnected from reality.

Here’s how I manage to exercise and train when I worked up to 15 hour of not longer days.

For 10 years I worked as a camera technician in the film industry and it was relentless how time consuming and stressful the job could be.

Jobs could very often own all of your time for weeks if not months. Mandatory overtime until scenes were finished.

But exercise continued to be important to me so I tried to find a way to continue to do this when I literally had no time to go to a gym without compromising even more sleep.

I’d exercise for short periods 10-30 mins max depending on where I was and how much time I had available. It sometimes felt like I wasn’t getting anywhere with it but I did it anyway.

I’d improvise with anything I could fin: suitcases, chairs, towels, scaffolding, resistance bands literally anything.

It was hard to see at the time but those short little spells over years compounded. It allowed me to continue to improve but more importantly it kept me moving and feeling energised.

One of my clients moved her sessions to a morning slot and she’s gained so much strength and fitness it’s unreal.

She used to come in the evenings but kept cancelling her sessions saying that it was work or just didn’t really feel up to it so wanted to rest at home.

We finally spoke about it and I told her that she wasn’t making any real positive changes to achieve the things she set out to when we first started working together.

We both agreed that this wasn’t working and that there needed to be some change or I was going to stop training her as I’d tried my best to help her.

We agreed that the training was the hardest thing for her to do above anything else in her week. I said let’s do it in the morning then so you don’t have to think about it throughout the day and it’s ticked off.

She now trains with me at 6am a couple of times a week and I can’t express how much of a difference it’s made to both of us. She’s finally getting the results she wants and I’m not frustrated having to sit around in the evenings waiting for her to cancel.

Here’s why you should stop punishing yourself after you come back from a holiday.

Rather than restricting yourself when you get back try to learn the importance of balance overall. If you can do this you’ll have a much healthier perspective on the occasional indulgence when you’re away or on weekends.
