When did you last give yourself a whole day to step out of the noise and think about what you actually want next?

Most of us are so busy working, reacting and keeping up that we rarely create the space for real clarity to emerge.

Beyond the Day Job is a one-day gathering to pause, reconnect and get clearer about what you want from the next chapter of your life and work.

We’ve curated a day designed to help you do exactly that:

🧘 Yoga with
🔥 Fireside conversations with , &
🎶 Sound bath with
🥗 Nourishing food, music and plenty of space to connect with a small room of curious people from different walks of life.

Previous guests have given our retreats 5 stars and said:

⭐️ “Genuinely one of the most powerful experiences I’ve ever had.”

⭐️ “It was a great time to reflect on things we don’t ask ourselves enough.”

📍 OmNom, Islington, London
📅 Saturday 12th September
🕙 10am–5pm

It’s been a while since we’ve run one of these gatherings, but they’ve always felt incredibly special — so we knew it was time to create another.

If you’ve been craving some space to zoom out, reconnect and get intentional about what comes next, come and join us.

Why is an event about your future… a retreat?

Because clarity rarely comes when we’re stressed, rushing between things and trying really hard to figure our lives out.

We need to create the right conditions for it.

That’s why the first part of Beyond the Day Job isn’t about plans, goals or productivity.

We slow down.

We move. We breathe. We practise yoga. We eat together. We listen. We connect with ourselves and with other people.

The intention is to create space before answers.

Then, from that different state of mind, the second half of the day moves towards reflection, conversation and ideation:

What matters to me now?
What am I curious about?
What might the next chapter look like?
And what could I actually do about it?

That’s why we call it a retreat.

Not an escape from your life — a chance to step outside it for long enough to see it differently.

Why did we create Beyond the Day Job?

Because there are a lot of people doing pretty well on paper who quietly have bigger questions about what they want from life.

Maybe you enjoy your work, but know there’s more you want to explore. Maybe you’ve achieved what you were aiming for and found yourself wondering… is this it? Maybe you have an idea, project or different path somewhere in the background, but never quite have the space to explore it.

Or maybe nothing is particularly wrong — you’d just like to live the next few years a little more intentionally.

Beyond the Day Job is for those people.

We’re bringing just 20 curious people together to step outside everyday life, meet others asking interesting questions, and create some genuine space to consider what comes next.

Along the way:

🧘 Yoga with
🔥 Fireside conversations with , &
🎶 Sound bath with
🥗 Nourishing food, music and a brilliant little community to share the day with.

One simple practice for today:

Notice a thought as a thought.

Not a fact. Not a command. Not the ultimate truth.

Just a conditioned pattern passing through the mind.

That tiny shift creates space.

Space between the thought and the reaction.

You don’t need to stop thinking.

You just need to stop believing every thought deserves the steering wheel.

Everyone’s obsessed with adding 5, 10 or 20 years to life.

But what if the real upgrade wasn’t only more time? What if you could make life feel twice as deep?

More emotion.
More connection.
More presence.
Music becoming transcendent.
Ordinary moments becoming fully alive.

A life can be long and still feel half-lived. Meditation offers a different kind of longevity: not just extending the timeline, but expanding the experience.

And the strange thing is, a life lived with less stress, more connection and more meaning may well support the years too.

Don’t just ask:

How long can I live?

Ask:

How fully can I be here?

Meditation teachers still get reactive, moody and eat too much chocolate—but beneath the human mess, Jimmy says he now moves through life with a deep sense of joy, fulfilment and happiness; not perfect, just less trapped by autopilot.

What happens when the worry softens?

When the overthinking quietens.
When you stop living through what everyone else might think.

Calm. Freedom. Openness. Tranquillity.

But beneath that is something even deeper. The identity you’ve spent years defending begins to loosen.

The old autopilot.
The blaming.
The conditioned reactions.
The version of you that thought it had to keep performing to stay safe.

When that starts to fall away, life stops feeling like a prison built from your own thoughts.

You don’t become nobody. You become less trapped by who you thought you had to be.

You’re not bad at meditation.

The thoughts.
The restlessness.
The aches.
The constant urge to stop.

That isn’t proof you’re failing.

That is the practice.

Meditation isn’t about creating a perfectly calm mind. It’s about learning to notice what’s happening without immediately reacting, suppressing it or being dragged around by it.

The obstacles aren’t getting in the way.

They’re the thing building the capacity.

And often, the people who struggle most at the beginning end up gaining the most.

Enlightenment always sounded like something reserved for monks, mystics and people sitting in caves.

Then Jimmy found Shinzen Young.

Suddenly it wasn’t some vague, esoteric idea. It was something that could be understood. Practised. Investigated. Even approached scientifically.

A shift in how we experience the mind.
A loosening of suffering.
A different relationship with reality itself.

And perhaps most importantly: not something reserved for a chosen few.

Something available to ordinary people.

This excerpt is about the moment enlightenment stopped sounding impossible — and started sounding human.
