Canine Partners The Official page for Canine Partners - a registered charity that trains assistance dogs

We breed, train, and support expert assistance dogs to create loving, life-changing partnerships with disabled people. Across the UK, we support people with a variety of physical disabilities and their families, carefully matching them with a dog that suits their needs, personality, and lifestyle. Our dogs bring confidence and independence, love and companionship, reducing reliance on carers and giving people the freedom to live life their own way.

New arrivals at our National Training Centre ๐Ÿถ

Weโ€™re delighted to introduce to you four wonderful pups as they begin the next stage of their training journey!

Meet:

๐Ÿพ Ulrich โ€“ A cuddly character who adores both his people and his toys. Heโ€™s often found drifting off to sleep with a fluffy teddy in his paws or using it as a pillow!

๐Ÿพ Enya โ€“ A loving girl who enjoys spending time with her foster familyโ€™s children. Sheโ€™s incredibly curious and loves using her nose to investigate everything around her.

๐Ÿพ Usher โ€“ A super-friendly Golden Retriever who loves cuddles, squeaky balls, and saying hello to everyone he meets.

๐Ÿพ Tara โ€“ Full of fun and personality, Tara loves people, playtime, and collecting shoes whenever she gets the chance! Sheโ€™s equally happy snoozing quietly through meetings while her humans work.

We wish these fantastic dogs every success as they continue their training journey ๐Ÿ’œ

In celebration of , weโ€™re proud to shine a spotlight on the incredible people who make our work possible ๐Ÿ’œ

Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. The time they give, the skills they share, and the energy they bring help us create real impact every single day.

Behind every stat are a group of wonderful volunteers who support others (and dogs!) and help change lives in ways that are both visible and unseen.

Weโ€™re so grateful for every moment our volunteers donate to us ๐Ÿซถ

Today is ๐Ÿ’œ

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a condition that affects the brain and spinal cord, making everyday movement and daily tasks more challenging for many people. Around 20% of the people supported by Canine Partners are living with MS.

Please take a moment to read Helenโ€™s story.

After being diagnosed with secondary progressive MS, daily life gradually became more difficult for Helen. Simple tasks like picking up dropped items or managing household routines became frustrating and exhausting. But everything began to change when she was partnered with her first assistance dog, Amber.

Amber didnโ€™t just help with practical tasks like retrieving items, opening doors, and pressing emergency buttons. She restored Helenโ€™s confidence and gave her companionship and a renewed sense of freedom. Later, Helen was matched with Canine Partner Kara, who continues to give that same life-changing support today.

โ€œFor me, itโ€™s far more than practical help. What you get back is double what you put in. Itโ€™s truly life-transforming.โ€

Stories like Helenโ€™s show the real impact assistance dogs can have in helping people living with MS feel more independent, confident, and supported.

โ€œI couldnโ€™t have wished for two better dogs. I absolutely adore them.โ€

Two years of training to become a life-changer โœจ

Canine Partner Eddy began his journey at just 8 weeks old. By 14 months, he had started his specialist assistance dog training, learning the skills needed to support someone living with physical disabilities.

Then came the moment everything changed: meeting Rob for the very first time ๐Ÿ’œ

Together, they spent two weeks on our Partnership Course, building trust, confidence, and a bond that would change both of their lives forever.

Today, Eddy supports Rob every day, helping with physical tasks at home and out in public. But heโ€™s also something just as important: a best friend, a source of confidence, and a constant companion to Rob.

Our Power of Partnerships Appeal shared the special moment Rob and Eddy first met at our National Training Centre - the place where these life-changing partnerships begin.

This year, we need to raise ยฃ55,000 to fund 11 Partnership Courses. Weโ€™re now just ยฃ13,000 away from reaching our target.

Could you help us get across the finish line?

Donate today. Thank you so much for your support ๐Ÿ’œ

Celebrating our newest member: Lora Lane ๐Ÿ’™

"Hi i'm Lora, an Assistance Dog Trainer for Canine Partners, a charity which creates life changing partnerships between dogs and people with physical disabilities. I'm very lucky to work for such a supportive charity, with a wonderful team of colleagues and volunteers.๐Ÿ•โ€๐Ÿฆบ

Previously I spent 17 years in Veterinary Practice working in the UK and worldwide, where my interest in animal behaviour began to develop, and I have continued to maintain my Registered Veterinary Nurse status, a title i'm still very proud of. ๐Ÿพ

At home i'm kept busy running around after my little boy, labrador, cats, goats and chickens."

Weโ€™re so pleased to have you join us, Lora - welcome! ๐Ÿ’™ ๐Ÿถ
