Holding the Light
22nd of January
A Midwinter Sound Bath
2:00–3:00pm | £20 per person

This one-hour sound bath is inspired by an ancient seasonal idea known as the Return of the Light — the quiet period after Midwinter when the days begin to lengthen, not dramatically, but slowly and almost unnoticed.

While the winter solstice marks the longest night, many earth-based and folk traditions recognise that the real work of the season happens afterwards. This is a time when the light has technically returned, yet the land is still cold, bare, and resting. Nothing is being asked to grow yet. Instead, life is gathering strength beneath the surface.

Holding the Light is about that in-between moment — when hope exists, but gently; when warmth is present, but needs care.

This sound bath is not about activation, manifestation, or change.
It is about rest, steadiness, and endurance.

What to expect

The session will take place in the afternoon, at 2:00pm, reflecting the subtle strengthening of daylight rather than the drama of sunrise or sunset. Participants will be invited to lie down or sit comfortably while immersed in a carefully structured sound journey lasting approximately one hour.

The sounds used will be slow, spacious, and grounding, including low resonant tones, sustained instruments, and gentle harmonics.

The pacing will be unhurried, with moments of silence allowed to support deep rest and nervous system regulation.

The sound bath will move through three main phases:

• Deep winter stillness — settling the body and mind.

• Subtle warming — introducing soft, steady tones that suggest continuity rather than change.

• Integration — holding a sense of quiet strength before closing in silence

There will be minimal spoken guidance, allowing the sound to do the work.

The meaning behind the practice

Across many cultures, late January was traditionally a time of watching and waiting. The light was known to be returning, but survival still depended on patience, conservation of energy, and trust.

This sound bath draws on that understanding. It is designed to support anyone who feels:
• Tired after a long winter
• In a period of waiting or recovery
• At the beginning of something fragile
• In need of reassurance rather than motivation

Rather than asking “What do I want to become?”, this practice asks:
“What can I carry gently until spring?”

Who this session is for

This session is suitable for:
• Beginners and experienced sound bath participants
• Those who prefer calm, grounding experiences
• Anyone seeking rest, reflection, or quiet emotional support

No prior spiritual or sound-bath experience is needed.
