Just a reminder during this UK heat wave ☀️🥵
Hot weather can massively affect the body especially for us women and it can make fat loss appear to “stall” even when you’ve been super consistent with calories, steps, training and nutrition.
When temperatures rise, your body naturally holds onto more water to help regulate temperature and prevent dehydration. This can lead to:
• Increased water retention
• Bloating/swelling (especially tummy, legs, hands & face)
• Puffiness
• Temporary scale increases or no scale movement
Add in hormones, stress, poor sleep from the heat, changes in digestion and sweating out electrolytes, and your body can feel completely different despite doing everything “right”.
This does NOT mean you’ve gained body fat overnight. Body fat gain takes a calorie surplus over time, not a couple of hot days.
In fact, many women are still losing body fat during heat waves… it’s just being masked by temporary fluid retention.
Focus this week on:
💧 Hydration
🧂 Electrolytes/minerals
🥗 Nutritious foods
🚶♀️ Movement where possible
😴 Sleep/recovery
📉 Long-term trends, not daily scale fluctuations
Be patient with your body... consistency still counts, even when the scales don’t immediately reflect it ❤️
