Meet Sue 👋

If you’ve visited Amaranth with a painful back, stiff neck, troublesome knee or an injury that just won’t settle, you may already know Sue and her wonderfully gentle approach to helping people feel and move better.

Sue has been a qualified Bowen Therapist since 2009, and joined the team here at Amaranth back in 2015. Sue has more than 16 years’ experience helping people manage pain, improve mobility and get back to doing the things they enjoy.

Alongside Bowen Therapy, Sue is also trained in the Emmett Technique, TMJ Therapy and Sharon Wheeler’s ScarWork, allowing her to tailor each treatment to the person in front of her.

People come to see Sue for all sorts of reasons, including:
• Back pain and sciatica
• Neck and shoulder tension
• Hip, knee and joint discomfort
• Long-term or chronic pain
• TMJ and jaw problems
• Scar tightness and discomfort
• Recovery from injury

What makes Sue’s treatments a little different is just how gentle they are. Rather than deep or forceful manipulation, she uses precise bodywork techniques designed to work with the nervous system and encourage the body’s own response.

And when she’s not treating at Amaranth, you’ll usually find Sue outdoors. She loves walking Benny, her gorgeous rescue dog from Bulgaria 🐾 – playing tennis with friends and attempting to improve her gardening skills!

For Sue, the best part of her work is seeing the difference treatment can make to someone’s everyday life.

“The more I learn about the human body, the more fascinated I become. Helping people relieve pain naturally and seeing their quality of life improve is so rewarding.”

We’re very lucky to have Sue as part of the Amaranth team. 💛

If you’re struggling with pain or restricted movement, recovering from an injury, or simply want to find out which treatments could be right for you, Sue would love to help.

Book with Sue via our website, find out more at beyondbowen.co.uk or get in touch with the Amaranth team to find out more.

We’ve been advising people on products for eczema and sensitive skin for many years, and here are the three products we keep going back to.

Calendula and Marshmallow Balm and Lyonsleaf Beauty Balm. These natural British made products are made with minimal ingredients and are designed to hydrate, soothe and heal the skin. Importantly they are balms and so do not contain water, this means that they do not need preservatives

Anti-itch Shampoo. One for the scalp but it can also support the skin on the face and the body too. People often forget that shampoos will come into contact with the skin on the hands, face and body. Foaming agents and fragrances in shampoo can be an issue for sensitive skin and so switching to an alternative really can help.

Our latest blog (link in bio) explains much more about skincare ingredients and you can DM or comment us to book a free skincare review.

3 things to try if you struggle with eczema or rosacea

Whilst there’s rarely one single cause, if you’re experiencing redness, irritation or sensitivity, here are three areas worth considering:

1. Check your skincare and personal care products
Ingredients such as SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate) and fragrance/parfum can be irritating for sensitive or compromised skin. Have a look at the ingredient lists on your face wash, shampoo, body wash and other products that regularly come into contact with your skin. Check out or latest blog (link in bio) for much more info on this.

2. Think about your gut health
Your gut, immune system and skin are connected through what’s known as the gut–skin axis. Research is increasingly exploring the role of the gut microbiome in inflammatory skin conditions, with some evidence for specific probiotics and synbiotics in atopic eczema. It’s not the answer for everyone, but it can be another piece of the puzzle.

3. Get some personalised advice
Eczema and rosacea can have many different triggers, so sometimes it helps to look at the bigger picture, including your diet, gut health, skincare, lifestyle and nutrient intake.

Our nutritionists and skin advisors can help you understand what might be contributing to your skin concerns and suggest practical changes that are right for you.

If you have persistent, worsening or unexplained skin symptoms, speak to your GP or dermatologist for appropriate diagnosis and treatment.
