Last month midwives from Birth Centres & Delivery Units across MFT came together for an amazing biomechanics training day facilitated by 💖
We practiced side lying release, rebozo techniques such as sifting and ‘shaking the apple’, forward leaning inversions and learnt tips and tricks for identifying when & how to use them correctly. It was such an insightful day and we’ve loved implementing them into labour care! 🍎

Last Tuesday midwives, managers & clinical leads across MFT joined together for training day - the leading charity dedicated to championing respectful maternity care by protecting the human rights of women and birthing people during pregnancy and childbirth 👯‍♀️
The training aims to strengthen understanding of human rights law, informed consent & respectful person-centred maternity and neonatal care. It was such an interesting and empowering day for us all!

Favourite midwifery fact :
How effective skin to skin contact is throughout the postnatal period for reducing stress and promoting a calm environment which helps to form a strong bond between mum and baby and is essential for baby’s development.

Best way to promote physiology:
changing position and encouraging women off the bed where possible to promote an active labour

Fun fact about myself:
I have an arguably unhealthy obsession with a sweet treat and will go above and beyond to share my knowledge of all the best bakeries in Manchester ### 🍰

As part of midwifery training, student midwives must facilitate forty vaginal births prior to registration.
During assessment or admission, students may support with your care under the supervision of our midwifery teams. Your consent will be gained prior to care participation. As well as gaining experience, they can offer invaluable emotional support, continuity of care, a calm and reassuring presence and much more.
