A REMINDER ABOUT OUR ROUTINE YARD VISITS 🐴
Did you know that we offer FREE monthly visits to eligible yards? If your yard has 10 or more Oakhill-registered horses and is within our practice areas, you could qualify for a regular monthly visit from one of our ambulatory vets.

How it works:
• Your horses are pre-booked onto the visit
• We attend your yard once a month on a specific day and time
• No visit fee is charged ✅
• Examination and treatment are charged at our usual rates

Not sure if your yard qualifies?
📞 Give the practice a call and ask to speak to Leona, who can talk you through the details and check whether your yard is eligible.

Do you guys remember biscuit?

Biscuit came to me with stiffness on all four corners 😓 🫶

With a personalised exercise plan, treatment, and a little help from uk here he is now! Mum said he is “a puppy again”, he is feeling so well and playful 🥰

Science-backed care all the way! The proof is in the pudding!

Beautiful girl Peggy is doing so well!

Almost back to normal after one appointment, mum and dad keeping up to date, and little changes around the house to make things as easy as possible for her!

Now we are on to the finicky stuff - supporting her areas of weakness and preparing for success and longevity 😀💪

Love love LOVE Springers!

I have to shake my head sometimes as Peggy is deaf as a post and I can't stop myself from chatting away to her 😂

5 things your vet and physio want to hear about in a session

1. Changes in behaviour - anything you may have noticed that has changed like struggling to pick up a certain canter lead or avoiding standing in the muddy gateway. They might seem like small things but they can build a picture of a greater issue going on.

2. Things you think are part of their personality because they've always done it - Some issues can be grumbling along for years and because it has been that way for a long time or they came to use that way we perceive it as normal for them. Like biting you when you pull a rug forward or having a buck after every jump. As in the previous point, this can build a whole picture that can indicate multiple aspects happening all at once or secondary conditions.

3. We LOVE if you've noticed avoidance behaviours - things that your horse does to literally stop doing a particular task. This can be a HUGE red flag to us.

4. Whether you think your animal is in pain - As the person who spends the most time with them you are the most in tune with what "their normal " looks like and if that changes you will be the first person to know about it.

5. A breakdown of specific events and video footage - If something odd is happening the best thing you can do is film it or note it down so you don't forget the details. If your horse has fallen or gotten injured a video or in depth description is a great way to allow us to effectively help you and your horse through knowing what areas to look at first.

Some of my favourite client interactions are those where we talk through the issues step by step in order to build a complete view of what is going on and a reactive measure to fix it.

As we slip into Autumn and the weather turns a little wetter and colder, many cats spend more time inside. This can increase tension between cats (in multi-cat households) if resources are limited.

Follow the golden rule: one resource per cat, plus one extra, spread out around the home.

Key resources include:

✔️ Litter trays
✔️ Food bowls
✔️ Water bowls
✔️ Beds
✔️ Scratching posts
✔️ Hiding places
✔️ Toys

Providing enough space and choice helps reduce stress, prevents toileting issues, and encourages natural feline behaviours.
