You know we’re all about the green here at Wild 🌿

We always dreamed of growing more of our own food here at Wild 🌿

But like most small family businesses… time gets taken up by simply keeping everything moving.

Since the cafĆ© closed for renovations, we’ve had a little more room for growth. Literally.

So while one part of Wild is being rebuilt… another part has quietly started blooming.

Most of what you see here is thanks to our green-fingered grandparents — obviously! (They basically do everything around here!)

Their greenhouse sits overlooking the river, filled with herbs, salads, fruits and all the little things that make a place feel alive.
Nothing fancy.
Nothing rushed.
Just food grown slowly, season by season, by people who genuinely care.

And this is only the beginning.
As the seasons change, we’re hoping to grow more, learn more, and bring even more homegrown goodness into Wild.

A slower kind of growth.
The kind that’s worth waiting for 🌿

One of the biggest changes in Wild history is happening… and we can finally tell you about it ā¤ļø

As many of you know, Alex has been the head chef at Rumpus for years now - but this June, he will officially be leaving his role there to come and join us full time at Wild 🄹

Honestly, this feels like one of those moments we only ever talked about as a ā€œmaybe one dayā€ dream.

It means that Wild will now have FOUR generations and eight family members all living and working together here, pouring everything we have into creating something really special.

And alongside all of the renovation plans and changes happening behind the scenes, it feels like Wild is finally stepping into the version of itself it was always meant to become.

But more than anything, this means something even more important to us personally.

After the last few years - and especially after sharing recently how burnout and hospitality pressures led us to closing the kitchen side of things - we knew something had to change. Hospitality can be beautiful, but it can also take so much from people, especially in high pressure roles like head chef positions.

This next chapter feels softer somehow.
Calmer… well, calmer-ish 😭

It means more family time.
More balance.

And the absolute best thing for Daisy, because now both of her parents get to be here with her every single day while building something together as a family.

We genuinely cannot wait for this next chapter to begin ā¤ļø

Since our last video about the renovation plans, so many of you have been asking… what actually happened to the roof?

Well… here’s the story.

It’s actually been like this for nearly two years now.

On the day of Suzanne’s 60th birthday celebrations, we were all getting ready for the party when suddenly we heard this huge crash.

A freak tree branch had fallen straight onto the roof!

Honestly, we were incredibly lucky… because grandad had literally been painting the veranda just an hour before it happened.

Most of the damage hit the veranda and reception area, while somehow the shop escaped mostly unscathed.

And to make it even more frustrating… Becca had only just finished painting the most beautiful mural for our reception desk, and suddenly everything had to be ripped apart and redone.

We then spent almost a year going back and forth with the insurance company… only to eventually be told they wouldn’t cover it šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļøšŸ˜…

So for a little while, we’ve had to leave things as they are while we slowly save up for the renovations ourselves…
which feels like just another thing added to our never-ending project list around here!

Thankfully, everything is still safe and secure enough for us to continue welcoming you all in ā¤ļø

But yes… this area is finally going to be getting the love and TLC it deserves very soon.

Keep your eyes peeled šŸ‘€

On Monday, we officially closed our doors for a while…

It was HIGHLY emotional, but it actually doesn’t need to be really- as we won’t be gone forever! This is just a little interlude in our Wild story ā¤ļø

Also videos will be constantly ongoing for all of the changes happening here. Like I said before, you will be sick of the sight us!

Still we will miss you all very much, this Summer is definitely going to be quieter than normal šŸ‘€ (she says that with a 7 month old šŸ˜‚)

For those who simply cannot live without our food- Keep an eye on all of our new pre ordered food and package options for our wellbeing guests, we will have you covered again soon enough šŸ™Œ

I know we say thank you a lot but we can’t help it- we are just always so grateful to our amazing customers for being the best cheerleaders 🄰

But thank you so much, honestly.

Wild is officially closed… for now šŸ˜‰
See you again soon!

Love from all of the Wild team including the newest member Daisy 🌼

When the social media girl throws the staff a Polaroid camera… cue pure chaos, blurry memories, and a camera roll full of moments we probably shouldn’t expose šŸ˜‚

This last week has been a lot - long days, loud laughs, slightly unhinged staff behaviour (as seen) but honestly so special.

We’re pretty tired, a little in our feelings, but mostly just really grateful for everyone who came down and was part of it.

It’s weird hitting pause for a while, we choked up a lot closing the door this evening…. It just feels so quiet already. But we’ll take the memories (and the Polaroids) of our incredible staff and these awesome days with us.

It won’t be long until we are back serving you coffee. Oh and don’t worry we’ll be filming all the chaos and behind the scenes work… honestly you are probably going to be sick of us!

See you soon 🌿

Oh, what a day ✨

May has arrived.

After months that have felt a little unsteady, with change unfolding faster than we expected and more still on the horizon…

And yet - there are moments like these
small, golden, easy to miss.

The ones that ground us.
The ones that make it all make sense.

May you notice them
May you hold onto them
May your May be something beautiful 🌸
