Today would have been my Gran’s 104th birthday 🕊️
I find myself thinking about her today… her incredible approach to life and longevity, which we can all learn so much from.
My Gran, along with my daughter, was the main inspiration behind Aqua Massage Therapy. Her mindset was its cornerstone, and helped form my core beliefs about health and wellness.
She lived to 102, but more importantly for her, she lived in great health…independently, in her own home of over 50 years, right until the very end. Her health span and lifespan truly matched.
She was a Marie Curie nurse before volunteering at a hospice, and she’d often say to me, ‘If I can leave this house just a little bit happier than I found it, I’ve earned my pennies for the day.’
Her physical and mental health were everything to her, because maintaining her independence was non-negotiable. She never stopped walking, never stopped dancing… something she’d done for over 90 years.
Every time we said goodbye she’d tell me to ‘keep dancing’ 🤍
She had the warmest heart, the most amazing sense of humour and cared deeply about helping other people. She also had a sense of adventure and never felt too old for anything… she always said she felt 21. She had no regrets, no worries, and spoke of how happy her life had been.
That longevity mindset - building a solid foundation so you can thrive for decades to come -is exactly what I now help my clients with through Aqua Massage Therapy.
Prioritising stress reduction, recovery, and genuine wellbeing, so they too can live healthy lives as well as long ones.
Longevity means preparing our bodies and minds for the rest of our lives. Gran knew that better than anyone.
Happy birthday Gran 🤍🕊️
