Today would have been my Gran’s 104th birthday 🕊️

I find myself thinking about her today… her incredible approach to life and longevity, which we can all learn so much from.

My Gran, along with my daughter, was the main inspiration behind Aqua Massage Therapy. Her mindset was its cornerstone, and helped form my core beliefs about health and wellness.

She lived to 102, but more importantly for her, she lived in great health…independently, in her own home of over 50 years, right until the very end. Her health span and lifespan truly matched.

She was a Marie Curie nurse before volunteering at a hospice, and she’d often say to me, ‘If I can leave this house just a little bit happier than I found it, I’ve earned my pennies for the day.’

Her physical and mental health were everything to her, because maintaining her independence was non-negotiable. She never stopped walking, never stopped dancing… something she’d done for over 90 years.

Every time we said goodbye she’d tell me to ‘keep dancing’ 🤍

She had the warmest heart, the most amazing sense of humour and cared deeply about helping other people. She also had a sense of adventure and never felt too old for anything… she always said she felt 21. She had no regrets, no worries, and spoke of how happy her life had been.

That longevity mindset - building a solid foundation so you can thrive for decades to come -is exactly what I now help my clients with through Aqua Massage Therapy.

Prioritising stress reduction, recovery, and genuine wellbeing, so they too can live healthy lives as well as long ones.

Longevity means preparing our bodies and minds for the rest of our lives. Gran knew that better than anyone.

Happy birthday Gran 🤍🕊️

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, and the theme is ACTION ✨

It’s a theme that sits very close to our hearts here at Aqua Massage Therapy…

When I created this business, it came from a place of truly understanding what it feels like to keep going when you’re running low… and then slowly learning how to rebuild.

That journey taught me that awareness of how we’re feeling is only ever the starting point. What changes things is what we do with that awareness.

So many of the people I work with are brilliant at showing up for their jobs, their families, their training…and far less practised at showing up for themselves.

If that resonates with you, this week is a gentle reminder that your health - mental, physical, emotional - deserves the same intention you bring to everything else.

It doesn’t need to be a grand gesture…

It just needs to be a start 🌿

Aqua Massage Therapy is a FINALIST! ⭐️

My passion for massage started in my late teens when I qualified in beauty and applied sciences. But life took a different path… for years I was living and working in survival mode, raising my girls as a single mum whilst working up to 60 hours a week in a demanding career.

My body was telling me I needed to make changes.

Then in January 2020, everything changed. My youngest daughter Grace underwent complex spinal fusion surgery. During her recovery, I used my previous knowledge and experience to gently massage areas to manage her pain, increase movement and stimulate nerves damaged by the surgery.

Seeing first hand how massage had such a positive influence on her recovery reignited my passion for healing others.

In March 2022 I bravely gave up my management career to retrain and launch Aqua Massage Therapy. 💙

So when I tell you this next bit, I mean it from the bottom of my heart…

I am beyond honoured to share that Aqua Massage Therapy has been named a FINALIST in the Muddy Awards 2026 for Best Wellness Specialist ✨

Thank you, truly 🙏🏻

If you could spare just 5 minutes to cast your vote, I would be so incredibly grateful 🫶🏻

The link to vote is in my bio 🔗

With so much love,

I didn’t choose Flamingo Falls by chance 🦩

From the beginning, my vision was always to combine massage therapy with the immersive experience of nature… creating a unique, safe space away from the noise of modern life, for both physical and mental recovery.

Because the concept of being surrounded by nature while receiving the therapeutic benefits of massage is more than just relaxation… it’s about restoring your whole self ⚖️

And today, on International Flamingo Day, it feels like the perfect moment to reflect on why this place matters.

Ever notice how your body softens the moment you step into nature? How your breathing slows, your shoulders drop, and something in you just… settles?

That’s not coincidence.

Nature reduces stress and inflammation, improves circulation, and supports emotional wellbeing.

Massage repairs soft tissue, eases pain, and releases tension.

Together, they optimise recovery and restore natural balance 🤍

Our rustic Savannah Breezehouse sits within woodland, tropical plants, and the sounds of nature… and yes, a resident flock of flamingos.

These extraordinary birds have long been symbols of grace, community, and quiet wildness.

They belong somewhere beautiful. And so do you. So when you arrive here and feel your body begin to settle before the treatment has even begun… that’s not a treat or a luxury. That’s your nervous system finding its natural rhythm again.

Because sometimes healing isn’t about doing more. It’s about letting your body return to what it already knows 🌿

Happy International Flamingo Day 🦩

After a high intensity activity, your body needs balance ⚖️

Whether you’re running a marathon, or participating in a fitness event or challenge that pushes your body’s limits, afterwards your body needs the time to rest and reset.

Recovery is what dials down the nervous system from fight or flight into rest and digest, bringing it back into balance is key for tissue repair, hormone balance and reducing inflammation.

I notice that people assume they’ll need strong, painful massage as part of recovery, but that is far from the truth. When the body is already in a stressed state, applying excessive pressure keeps the body in flight or flight instead of shifting into a parasympathetic state.

This can increase inflammation, delaying the healing process and increasing the risk of injury.

Here are a few on my favourite recovery methods…
🌿 Contrast therapy
🌿 Massage therapy
🌿 Cupping
🌿 Red light therapy

Don’t forget to prioritise the other pillars of health, get some rest and fuel your body with nutrients to help repair and reduce inflammation 💪

THE ART OF LIVING WELL 🌿 PART 5 - Getting Morning Sunlight 🌞

Having the sun on my face first thing every morning has become one of my non-negotiables lately 🌞

Before I check my phone or start my day, I step outside and let the light hit my face.

It’s simple, but powerful. Morning light helps regulate your circadian rhythm (your body’s internal clock), supporting better sleep, balanced energy and a calmer nervous system. It signals your body to wake up naturally and sets you up to wind down more easily later.

I’ve noticed I feel more grounded and less rushed from the start of the day.

If you’re feeling out of sync, try 5-10 minutes of natural light first thing. No sunglasses, just you and the day beginning ✨

About ‘The Art of Living Well’ series ~

I was inspired to create this series because I often get asked about my approach to health, wellness, longevity mindset, and how I actually look after myself day to day. The series centres around the four pillars of health:

✨ Sleep
✨ Movement
✨ Nutrition
✨ Stress management

This isn’t about being perfect or finding quick fixes, but things that have actually worked over time with patience and consistency.

Because you have to believe that you are worth the daily investment in your health 🤍

Love,

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums who spend so much of their time caring for everyone else 🤍

Today is a gentle reminder that your cup matters as much as theirs. Taking time to rest, recover and care for yourself isn’t a luxury - it’s essential so you can keep on doing everything you do, including caring for the people who need you the most.

Wishing all the mums a day filled with appreciation, calm moments, and a little time just for you 🤍🌿

GIVE TO GAIN ~ Happy International Women’s Day 🤍🌿

Women are always giving.

To their families.
To their work.
To everyone around them.

We celebrate women who “do it all”…
but doing it all without pause leads to burnout, not empowerment.

Here’s a reminder to you…
the giving has to include YOU.

To gain strength → give your body recovery.
To gain energy → give yourself proper rest.
To gain resilience → give your nervous system space.
To gain longevity → give yourself consistency, not extremes.

Muscles repair during recovery.
Hormones regulate during rest.
Energy and clarity return when we slow down.

Taking time for yourself isn’t indulgent...
It’s essential.

This International Women’s Day, remember:
Giving to yourself isn’t selfish… it’s the foundation of resilience.

Because what you give to yourself determines what you can continue giving to everyone else.

🤍 Give to gain
