I WONDER IF YOU KNOW

I wonder if you know
the work your body has done today
and every day

how much disease it fought
how many times it could have failed but battled on
how many ways it could have broken but did not

I wonder if you know
the work your body has done today
and every day

and each day it has achieved this amazing feat
without your help
your approval
your acceptance
or your kindness

Each day it has soldiered on
regardless of the constant stream of negativity
pulsing its way from your brain to your cells…

not good enough
not attractive enough
not the right shape

Perhaps it’s time to see your body for what is truly is
a mind-blowingly competent machine
a vessel to get your soul to where it needs to be in this life

to let you live.

I wonder if you know
how much better you and your body would be

as a team.

I wonder.

I was having a conversation with someone this morning about potentially taking part in a podcast on self-recovery.

Talking is my thing. Banging on about self-recovery is definitely my thing. Listening to podcasts is my thing. Featuring on one? Much less so.

I have been asked to take part in podcasts before discussing trauma, racism, holistic wellness and coaching and I have always politely declined. This time, though, I stepped a little closer and allowed myself to have the conversation.

One thing that came up was how often people hear the words self-recovery and immediately think addiction recovery. Whilst I absolutely work with people on that journey, self-recovery is so much bigger than that.

Self-recovery is finding your voice after years of staying silent.

It’s speaking your truth in the meeting where you would once have sat quietly wishing you’d said something.

It’s learning to navigate conflict when previously you would have run a mile.

It’s choosing yourself instead of constantly putting everyone else’s needs before your own.

It’s saying no and meaning it.

It’s grieving the life you thought you were going to have.

It’s rebuilding after a broken marriage, a difficult relationship, a loss, a burnout, or a chapter that changed everything.

It’s creating space for joy again.

It’s breathing fully again.

It’s finding a new hobby, a new passion, a new purpose.

It might even be something as simple as taking yourself on a solo date and remembering who you are when nobody else is around.

I know what it feels like to lose yourself. To watch life pass by as though you’re witnessing it rather than living it.

Self-recovery is the decision to find your way back.

And that journey can start with one breath, one conversation, one massage, one moment at a time.

The Zenden welcomes you and all the versions of you that may currently be sitting heavy on your shoulders.

Self recovery starts the minute you say YES to you.

I am part of a super trio that is holding a retreat at Rydal Water details below maybe saying YES to you starts here.

I love nature. The colours, the energy, the moods, and the way she makes me feel. Every season, every sunrise, every ripple on the water reminds me of the beauty of being fully alive.

I feel incredibly blessed to have views like this on my doorstep.

In just a few weeks, however, myself, Christina and Christopher will be swapping this stunning landscape for another breathtaking setting the shores of Rydal Water the backdrop for our Journey From Solstice Retreat.

But what is this retreat, and who is it for?

This retreat is for those who feel the pull to reconnect with themselves. For those who know there is more within them waiting to be awakened.

It is a journey through the elements of self.

A journey from the softest connection with your inner world, into the flames of transformation.

A dance with your inner fire.

A stirring of passion, purpose, creativity and energy.

A space to awaken what has been sleeping, release what has been held, and rediscover the parts of yourself that have been longing to be expressed.

Through breathwork, movement, sound, beats, energy work and dance, we invite the body to speak, the heart to open and the spirit to expand.

Together we will breathe deeply, move freely, release powerfully and reconnect authentically.

This is not about becoming someone new.

It is about remembering who you have always been.

A journey of fire, freedom, expression and expansion.

A journey home to yourself.

There is something incredibly powerful about women who choose to begin again.

Not because life fell apart.
Not because they failed.
But because they finally realised they were made for more.

If you could start over, would you?

Would you choose yourself more often?
Would you worry less about what others think?
Would you rest when your body asks for it?
Would you speak your truth instead of staying silent?
Would you chase that dream you’ve tucked away for “one day”?

The truth is, starting over doesn’t always mean changing everything. Sometimes it simply means making a different choice today than you made yesterday.

So here’s the question…

What would you do now that you’re not already doing?

Maybe the life you’re longing for doesn’t begin with starting over.
Maybe it begins with starting where you are.

What does self-recovery mean to you?

For some people, the words self-recovery can feel confusing.

“Recovery from what?”

Not everyone is recovering from addiction, crisis, or trauma. But many of us are recovering from something…

Recovering from people-pleasing.
Recovering from self-doubt.
Recovering from burnout.
Recovering from living a life that never truly felt like our own.

To me, self-recovery is the journey back to yourself.

The process of remembering who you were before the world told you who you should be.

It’s learning to trust yourself again.
Keeping your word to yourself.
Raising your standards.
Not waiting for someone to save you, fix you, or choose you.

It’s choosing yourself.

So where are you on your journey?

🔸 Lost?
🔸 Searching?
🔸 Healing?
🔸 Rebuilding?
🔸 Or have you found your way home to yourself?

I’d love to know what self-recovery means to you.

Back in the Zenden today, and what a glorious feeling.

My heart feels full of joy, gratitude, and abundance.

It’s been a wonderful week back, beginning with a workshop exploring attachment theory, dissociation, and the relationship these have with self-recovery. I found myself sitting in complete awe of a psychologist I am incredibly privileged to be studying with over the next year.

The journey back to ourselves is one of the most important journeys we will ever take. In a world that often teaches us to look outward, self-recovery gently invites us inward. Our beginnings matter just as much as our present moment because they helped shape the person standing here today.

What I loved most about this learning was the reminder that we don’t need dramatic retellings or theatrical unpacking of our stories. We can safely and compassionately begin to understand our triggers, patterns, behaviours, self-sabotage, and struggles with self-worth. We can meet them with curiosity rather than judgement, and with love for both the person we were and the person we are becoming.

It was a powerful lesson, and I am already looking forward to next month.

Yesterday I was working off-site, diving into the fascinating relationship between trauma and sleep. Another reminder of how deeply connected our minds, bodies, and nervous systems truly are.

And today, I am back in the Zenden, holding space for clients through a unique blend of massage, breathwork, Reiki, sound, and self-recovery coaching.

I never take this work for granted.

The space, the learning, the sharing, the healing, the moments of connection, and witnessing people find their way back to themselves in whatever form that recovery takes.

Today, I am simply grateful to be here.

“Your body speaks a language long before words”

It whispers through tension. It communicates through aches. It asks for attention through fatigue, stiffness and discomfort.

Massage is one of the few places where we stop trying to analyse the body and simply listen to it.

Beneath every tight muscle is often a story. A shoulder that has carried too much. A jaw that has held back too many words. A chest that has forgotten how to fully expand. A back that has spent years supporting everyone else.

Massage creates space. Space for circulation to improve. Space for muscles to soften. Space for the nervous system to settle. Space for you to reconnect with the body you live in every day.

Sometimes the most profound thing you can do is lie down, be still, and allow your body to receive. Not because it's broken.

But because it deserves care.
At Soulstar, massage is more than a treatment. It is an invitation back into relationship with yourself.

A chance to feel, release, restore and remember that your body is not just something that carries you through life, it is your home.

What is your body carrying?

How heavy is the weight of your earlier chapters? The body remembers what the mind has learned to move past. Every experience, every disappointment, every heartbreak, every moment you had to be strong when you really needed support can leave an imprint on the nervous system.

Many of us are living from stories that were written years ago. Stories of not being enough. Stories of having to prove our worth. Stories of keeping the peace, staying quiet, pleasing others, or carrying responsibilities that were never ours to hold.

As adults, we often believe we are reacting to what’s happening now, when in reality our nervous system may still be responding to chapters that ended long ago.

The tension in your shoulders. The knot in your stomach. The exhaustion that sleep doesn’t seem to fix. The feeling of always being “on.”

These are not character flaws. They are often adaptations. Intelligent survival responses that once served a purpose.

But survival is not the same as living. At Soulstar, we gently explore the stories held within the body. Through nervous system work, somatic practices, breathwork, massage, energy work and self-recovery coaching, we begin to listen to what the body has been trying to say all along.

Because healing is not about erasing the past. It is about helping the body realise that the chapter is over. And perhaps the question isn’t what happened in the earlier chapters…

Perhaps the question is:
Are you ready to stop rereading them and begin writing the next one?

Your story is still being written.
Your nervous system can learn safety again.

A new chapter is waiting.

Happy Monday Warriors of the World.

The start of a new week looks a little different to the beginning of last week.

Firstly, I want to say a huge thank you to all of my clients whose appointments had to be cancelled at the last minute following an emergency A&E visit and a week focused on recovery. I still have a little way to go, but thankfully things are moving in the right direction and I am feeling much more like myself.

I will be back in The Zenden this week and my diary is now open for rescheduled and new appointments.

Please know that I never cancel appointments unless I absolutely have no other choice, so I am incredibly grateful for the patience, understanding and kindness you have all shown me.

Thank you also for the messages, well wishes, flowers and cards. Your support has meant more than you know and has made a difficult week so much easier to navigate. I truly feel blessed to have such wonderful clients around me, and I am looking forward to welcoming you back into The Zenden.

A little practical note: where possible, please book online. This is my preferred booking method as, should an emergency ever arise again and I am unable to contact clients personally, someone else can access the booking system and make any necessary amendments on my behalf.

Thank you again for all of your support.

Here’s to a healthy, happy and positive week ahead.

Have you ever truly met yourself?

This image stopped me in my tracks. There is something so powerful about it. Don’t you agree? A woman suspended between the surface and the depths. Between who she has been and who she is becoming. The light catches her face as though she is finally allowing herself to be seen. Not by others.By herself.

Most of us spend years meeting everyone else’s expectations, playing roles, wearing masks, becoming who we needed to be to survive. The caregiver. The strong one. The achiever. The peacekeeper.

But underneath all of that is someone waiting patiently to be rediscovered.

The real question isn’t really whether you have met yourself. It is more whether you are willing to.

Because self-discovery is not always soft and beautiful. Sometimes it means uncovering the grief you have buried, the anger you have silenced, the needs you have ignored, and the truths you have spent years avoiding. It asks you to look beneath the surface.
To sit with what you find.
To stop running. And to realise that everything you’ve been searching for outside of yourself may have been waiting within you all along.

“I have met myself and I am going to care for her fiercely.”

What a powerful declaration.

Not that she’s perfect.
Not that she’s healed.
Not that she’s got it all figured out.

Simply that she is worthy of being loved, protected, honoured and cared for.

So I’m curious…
Have you met yourself?
And if you have, have you embraced who you found?

Or are you still afraid of what might be waiting beneath the surface?

I’d love to hear your thoughts.
