Why do we keep posting about neutering? Why do we get frustrated when we hear excuses for not neutering - 'She needs to have 1 litter' 'I don't want to take away his rights to father kittens' 'Its normally an indoor cat'?
This is a cat that came into our care previously- this could be YOUR cat, your neighbours cat, the cat you pass on the street every day. PLEASE neuter your cats!
"YET ANOTHER REASON FOR NEUTERING YOUR CAT!
This is the sad tale of a cat nicknamed "Bess" She was about 15 months old and came to us from a household where there had been no neutering of the four sexually mature females (all related). Her owner had financial problems and asked help in neutering 3 cats and rehoming Bess plus 3 kittens of varying ages (none of these belonged to Bess). Bess had aborted a kitten several weeks before and her behaviour had changed...she was sometimes bad tempered with the children and had stopped using her litter tray. One of the many entire toms lurking outside the house had also started to look very rough a few weeks before...horrible festering and non-healing wounds on his face were seen. When Bess went to the vet she was found to be a little underweight as well as suffering from swollen painful feet and blood testing revealed she was infected with both cat leukaemia viruses and cat AIDs virus. She was painlessly put to sleep. Our vet thinks the poorly tomcat was the source of the infections...so before letting your young girl kitten "just have one litter" PLEASE get her neutered so she doesn't end up like poor Bess 😭"
