A little backstory from our Founder on how The Impact Hub came to be… ❤️
"In July, I was told that my role was being made redundant due to a restructure within the organisation I was working for.
As part of my role, I had been fortunate to establish and lead a number of local projects, including the Kindness Kitchen, supporting and leading female volunteers, and organising community events. This included health events that helped bridge the gap between health services and faith settings — including the first health events of their kind to be held at two different mosque in Pendle.
Being told that my role was ending also meant that the projects and activities I had been overseeing would have to come to an end.
But the community had other ideas.
Following conversations with volunteers and people around me, one message kept coming through: these projects needed to continue.
People had seen first-hand the positive impact they were having on individuals, families and the wider community. The volunteers wanted to continue giving their time, and the community wanted the activities to carry on.
For many years, people had encouraged me to establish something of my own. Perhaps this was finally the time.
And so, The Impact Hub was established — born from a desire to continue the work we had started and to create a space where volunteers, families and the wider community could come together to make a difference.
From the beginning, our vision has been simple:
Empowering families. Strengthening communities. Creating lasting impact.
The Impact Hub is built on the belief that meaningful change doesn't always require a large organisation or significant resources. Sometimes, it starts with a group of committed people, a shared purpose and a willingness to give their time to serve their community.
We are still at the very beginning of our journey, but already our incredible volunteers have helped us deliver community walks and tennis sessions. Next week, our girls' youth club will begin, with a boys' youth club to follow in due course — all led and supported by volunteers who simply want to make a difference.
What initially felt like an ending has become the beginning of something new.
Looking back, it has reminded me that sometimes a door closes and leads you towards a path you may never have taken otherwise.
And above all, The Impact Hub isn't about one person. It's about the volunteers who give their time, the families who take part, the organisations that support us and a community that believes in looking out for one another.
Here's to the beginning of The Impact Hub, and to seeing where this journey takes us."
