I have a wonderful friend who has experienced a number of difficult moments in her life, starting quite young. Over time, that shaped how she responds to criticism - it can linger far longer than it should.

What’s interesting is that our brains often treat criticism as a kind of threat. The same areas involved in physical danger can activate when someone disapproves.

Many of us grow up with the message that criticism means failure. And most of the time, we’re far harder on ourselves than anyone else.

This isn’t about blame. It’s about understanding what’s happening internally so you can respond more intentionally.

There’s some solid research behind this. Studies show that people who use brief grounding or self-affirmation exercises after negative feedback tend to be less defensive and more mentally flexible - both strong foundations for confidence and wellbeing (Creswell et al., 2005; Sherman et al., 2009).

We’ve created a simple 5-step guide designed for moments like these - when you’ve had a knock and want to steady yourself rather than spiral.

If you’d like a copy, just reply and ask.

The reason this approach works is that shifting your focus away from external criticism and back to internal grounding helps restore a sense of self-worth and autonomy. It breaks the cycle of rumination and allows you to respond, rather than react - a core habit of emotionally resilient people.

Are boundaries important in relationships 🤔

Whilst making new guides and training on relationships, we came upon the following:

"Research shows people who practise short assertiveness routines report 52% less daily stress and stronger self-esteem (Journal of Behavioural Therapy, 2023)."

Boundaries do not mean resistance, or training for resiliance ,or putting up any blockage - they are simply about protecting your time, energy, and wellbeing.

If you feel that you are a Yes person all of the time - consider getting some short assertiveness routines for a healthier life.

We are lauching a new give away for the end of 2024. It is a recording called 'Disappearing an Unwanted Condition' and it is a guided recording to help you reduce pain or discomfort.

This came from a tape (cassett in old school language) that hasn't been around for years and has just resurfaced. I have cleaned it up (well run it through Audacity to help reduce any background hiss) and put it up on our ecomm shop.

Now my shop won't allow free items, so I have added a voucher! You can get your recording today by following the link to the item and then using the voucher code 'Disappear'.

I have also added 2 other bonus gifts as a thank you for following our page, supporting us and being a great person!

I only ask one thing, please share this post.

I have had my data hacked - have you? I was recently hacked on FB, where they had access to my ads account, and therefore 'bank' - and I lost money. So, read the following!

There has been a data breach - over the past few days - of over 26 billion records which have been taken from Twitter, LinkedIn and Dropbox to name some of the bigger breaches.

These records have been made public and are accessible by hackers (phone numbers/email addresses) and there is expected to be a surge in attacks.

There is a URL you can go to and put your email address/phone in to see if your details were released (as this company has accessed the same released data, so it can cross check).

On an initial check, if found 2 email addresses hacked and released (it even tells you from what sites!). Be careful.

Check whether your online credentials have been comprised with our up to date personal data leak checker tool.
