Cake stall || Mouth watering 😍

I visited the Boiler Shop Emporium on Sunday and was thrilled to find this little gem. I haven’t come across the bakery before but have now followed them on all social media. This orange and rosemary mini loaf cake with an insane amount of delicious buttercream was just amazing!!

They had two gluten free options available on the day along with a range of great looking other treats.

*Saray Turkish Grill House @ Jesmond*
Main menu || Stylish & Authentic 🤩

If you’re looking for somewhere authentic, deliciously tasty and gluten free then this is the place to go. I don’t think it has been open very long and I’ve been wanting to try it for a while. The decor is really nice and it had a great atmosphere too.

The menu is pretty big, however, gluten free wise, it was slightly confusing - they have about five dishes on the entire menu marked as GF but some of the rice/meat dishes which I expected to be okay were not marked up. Managed to speak to a member of staff during the ordering process who was really helpful and explained what was and wasn’t available. They were more than happy to adapt dishes and said they would double check everything with the chef too.

We shared a Cold Platter for starters and then a Mixed Grill for main and were super impressed. The platter came with Turkish bread (not gf) but there were plenty of cucumber pieces, tomatoes and salad to eat it with.

Overall a very successful trip and somewhere I will definitely be visiting again. I’m already dreaming about the Barbecue section of the menu and the huge, tasty grilled chunks of lamb 🤤

Breakfast & Brunch menu || Always fab 👍🏼

Cafe 19 is a great little place on the seafront. They offer a really nice range of sandwiches, toasties, tray bakes, cakes and more. The gluten free bread is really tasty and there are so many different fillings and options available - you can barely tell that you’re eating gluten free bread once it’s all pulled together. I went for ‘Posh poached eggs’ on this occasion and was definitely not disappointed! 🍳 😋

Cake counter || Just Go 👏🏼

Cake stories on Brentwood Avenue in Jesmond is just WOW! The cakes all look amazing and more importantly there are always around 3/4 gluten free options too. All placed in separate trays and delightfully displayed in the glass counter - the only issue is which one to choose 😍 They were recently approved for an alcohol licence too so if you’re looking for a late night cake and wine fix this is the place for you.

I opted for the gf salted caramel brownie and chose a loose leaf breakfast tea to go with it. Saturday afternoon chills 👌🏼

Sandwich menu || Fresh and tasty 🤩

This has got to be one of my ‘go to’ gluten free places! The menu is super accommodating and states that they offer gluten free bread right at the top so browsing through the options is nice and easy.

The counter itself has lots of yummy looking produce in and the sandwiches are all made fresh to order. The guys that run the store are really friendly and always happy to help and the place itself has a really chilled vibe. The front of the shop is stacked with a range of traditional deli style products which are really worth a browse too.

I’m not one to mention the C word in October but preparation is key, especially when it comes to getting gluten free food on the go. One of my lovely followers was kind enough to send this through! It looks really good and even better it’s included in their meal deal 🎄👏🏼

Lunch menu || Huge portions 😋🦊

Bacon, Brie and cranberry has got to be a sandwich favourite for a lot of us! I was thrilled to find that The Running Fox offered gluten free bread which means the majority of the sandwich menu is available!

I didn’t opt for cake this time however I have popped in recently and on two occasions they didn’t have any gluten free cakes which is a little disappointing. I was offered a slice of vegan cake which after questioning the ingredients found that it did have flour in so not the best 🙈

The afternoon tea is legendary so I’m keen to try this although they do charge an additional £5 on top of the original option and swapping a scone for a meringue wouldn’t be my first choice.

A good review regardless for the sandwich and a lovely drive out to Felton too ❤️
