✨ June is Acne Awareness Month ✨

Acne is one of the most common skin conditions worldwide, affecting up to 85% of people between the ages of 12 and 24. While many associate acne with the teenage years, it is increasingly persisting well into adulthood and affecting confidence, self-esteem and quality of life.

The good news? Effective treatment options are available.

For active acne, we can educate, discuss and refer on for appropriate medical options.

In clinic, we take an evidence-based approach using medical-grade skincare, including carefully selected OBAGI® protocols, designed to help reduce breakouts, control excess oil, improve skin texture and support long-term skin health.

If acne has left its mark, we also offer advanced treatments for acne scarring, including:
✔️ SkinPen® microneedling
✔️ Chemical peels
✔️ Regenerative treatments tailored to your skin concerns

Every skin journey is different, which is why treatment plans are always personalised following a detailed consultation.

You don’t have to simply “wait for it to clear” or live with the scars it leaves behind.

Mineral or chemical sunscreen-which should you choose?

One of the biggest myths in skincare is that one type of sunscreen is “better” than the other. The truth? Both can provide excellent protection against skin cancer, pigmentation and premature ageing when used correctly.

Mineral sunscreens (containing zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide) are often preferred for sensitive, rosacea-prone or post-procedure skin. They work immediately after application and are less likely to sting the eyes.

Chemical sunscreens use UV filters to absorb UV radiation before it can damage the skin. Modern European filters offer exceptional UVA protection, lightweight textures and elegant finishes that make daily use much easier.

My advice? Don’t get too caught up in the mineral vs chemical debate.

Instead, focus on finding a sunscreen that:
✔️ Provides broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection (and ideally HEV/visible light protection)
✔️ Is SPF 30 or higher (ideally SPF 50)
✔️ Feels comfortable on your skin
✔️ You’ll actually wear every day

Because the best sunscreen is always the one you’re willing to use consistently.

Which team are you: Mineral 🧴 or Chemical ☀️?

This lovely patient was concerned about the “smokers” lines also known as “barcode” lines around her mouth. In Aesthetics, these are Perioral Rhytides. We used a very light dermal filler to address this (RHA1).

I used a cannula to subcise underneath the rhytides using RHA1 followed by a superficial flat blanching technique with RHA1 to plump out the lines. The after photo is immediately following treatment and this will continue to soften over time as hydration is drawn into the area.

We have also started prescription strength skincare through OBAGI for a longer term, holistic approach and skincare transformation to improve pores, texture, tone and fine lines and wrinkles further.

Such a a difference!

Skin Cancer Awareness Month ☀️🧴

As an aesthetics doctor, healthy skin will always come before “perfect” skin.

Every year in the UK, thousands of skin cancer cases are diagnosed-many of which are preventable. The single most powerful anti-ageing product you can use isn’t a serum or injectable… it’s daily SPF.

Here’s what I want you to take away this month:
• Wear SPF 50 broad spectrum every single day-yes, even in the UK
• Reapply if you’re outdoors, especially in warmer months
• Avoid sunbeds completely
• Get to know your skin - if something changes, get it checked with your GP or Dermatologist.

Aesthetics is not just about enhancing how you look-it’s about protecting and preserving your skin long term. Treatments like chemical peels, microneedling and skin boosters can improve skin quality, but they should always sit alongside good skin health habits.

If you’re investing in your skin, protect it.

Any new or changing moles, lesions or concerns should always be reviewed by a medical professional.

Sunscreen isn’t optional-it’s essential ☀️
Sadly, Melanoma rates are now their highest ever in the UK. But there’s good news! Up to 90% of these can be prevented by protecting our skin ❤️ and we can age well at the same time.

So many people still misunderstand how SPF actually works… and that’s where skin damage (and premature ageing) creeps in.

From not applying enough, to relying on makeup SPF, to thinking a tan is “healthy”-these are the mistakes I see daily in clinic.

If your goal is skin longevity and radiance, this is your foundation.

For clinic options on skin longevity, skin health and injectable boosters and treatments, book online at www.drfionasteedman.co.uk or at the link in bio.

Not all lines need Botox… and not all fillers are about volume.

RHA1 by Teoxane is a brilliant treatment for fine, etched-in lines that sit within the skin rather than being caused by muscle movement.

This makes it a perfect option for:
✨ Forehead lines present at rest (and Botox isn’t ideal)
✨ “Accordion lines” in the cheeks on movement
✨ Fine lines around the mouth “smokers lines”
✨ Tech neck and horizontal lines on the neck and décolletage
✨ Sleep lines and crows feet
✨ Lips feeling dry, crepey or in need of subtle hydration (without adding volume)

Unlike traditional fillers, RHA1 is ultra-soft and designed to move naturally with your facial expressions, making it ideal for delicate areas.

Think of this as skin quality first, not “filler” in the traditional sense.

If you’ve been told Botox isn’t right for you, or you want a more natural approach to fine lines, this may be the missing piece.

To discuss your goals and why RHA1 might be great for you, book a consultation via the link in bio, via the website at www.drfionasteedman.co.uk or DM to enquire.

Rosacea Awareness Month 🤍

Rosacea is more common than you might think-affecting and estimated over 1 million people in the UK -yet it’s still often misunderstood, misdiagnosed, and dismissed as “just sensitive skin.”

But Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition, and with the right approach, it can be effectively managed.

What helps?
A tailored combination of skincare, prescription strength treatments and in-clinic treatments:

• Azelaic acid – calms inflammation & reduces redness
• Ivermectin – targets underlying inflammatory pathways
• Tretinoin – supports skin renewal (used carefully)
• Brimonidine - counteracts fixed redness
• Polynucleotides (Plinest) – repair, strengthen & improve skin quality
• PCA peels – gentle exfoliation to soothe and refine

There’s no one-size-fits-all…Rosacea requires a personalised, skin-first approach.

If you’re struggling with redness, flushing, or sensitive skin, you don’t have to just “put up with it.”

Let’s create a plan to calm your skin and restore your confidence

Want glowing, radiant skin this summer? ☀️✨
It’s not about one treatment-it’s about the right combination.

From active skincare (vitamin C, retinoids, azelaic acid & peptides) to advanced treatments like SkinPen microneedling, Redensity 1 skin boosters, PCA chemical peels and polynucleotides, the key is starting early and building collagen over time.

Most treatments take weeks to months to show their full effect-so now is the time to invest in your skin.

And don’t forget…
SPF 50 every single day = non-negotiable if you want to maintain your glow.

If you’re not sure where to start, that’s where I come in!
Every plan I create is completely personalised to your skin, your concerns, and your goals.
